They might not seem like much, but those are ghost bells (Monotropa uniflora). They lack chlorophyll which is why they lack that distinctive green coloration.

They are also parasitic and suck the nutrients from other plants!

Truly vampires of the plant world. ๐Ÿง›โ€โ™‚๏ธ

I find this so true with so many areas of science - very challenging to learn what fields are promising or have jobs without actively being a part of the clique!

If I can do anything to help, I am here. More than willing to share industry contacts to help find someone who is more knowledgeable.

Agronomist jobs are plentiful in my area and they are struggling to fill the roles. But that may just be a trend, I donโ€™t know enough because thatโ€™s not my current wheelhouse.

When I was selecting graduate programs, I worked very heavily with some of these companies to curate what degree would align with what career I was wanting in the end.

The uncertainty isโ€ฆsomething. And Iโ€™d be lying if I wasnโ€™t concerned what post-graduate studies will look like for me.

I wish I could offer more advice, as Iโ€™m just a grad student. However, the AG side of things seems to be more promising (for now) especially given the big agronomic companies. They value higher degrees. I think it would depend on what you enjoy and location.

Nutty, and almost like a condensed version (flavor wise) of a squash! They have a melt in your mouth quality to them too.

Nothing feels more like summer to me than squash blossoms fried up! They are so yummy!

Grad school has ramped up so Iโ€™m not in a position to post drawings. So cooking art it is! Girls gotta eat.
