Many who speak about DEI being removed from employment are forgetting disabled people in that conversation. It’s not surprising since most forget about us as a whole but this is going to make it so disabled people can barely get hired or receive any accommodations. We’re barely surviving as is.

I think the worst part of being disabled and needing help with access needs is that a lot of times I CAN DO THINGS,,, But the issue is that if I do it, it might be the leadup to me seizing bad enough that I knock me and my gamer chair over, and am collapsed on the ground till I can move again

Sometimes I think I'm a non practicing witch but I just realized I've been actively doing three or so spells a day.

“But the people who died had preexisting conditions.” So what? Does that mean their lives didn’t matter? Does that mean they weren’t important? Disabled people can hear you when you excuse our deaths. Our lives have value.

Something people seem to forget about disabilities is that our energy levels are typically much lower than the average person. Just because we were able to do something one day doesn't mean we're going to be able to do it again the next day

I'm trying to get services I qualify for, to get help with stuff but gosh like I always feel like I should be able to do tasks that I used to find easy but over exertion and stress are a big trigger for my seizures flare ups

I look at my unmade bed, and feel like I should just make it. Last time I tried to just make it, I started having seizures and had to stop halfway through

I look at trash, and think that should be easy- Last time I took out the trash I nearly collapsed outside and was out of it the rest of the day

Me: Maybe I'm being lazy and that's why I can't do the things I could before being disabled

Also me:... Huh earlier today I was at the mall with a friend and by the end my friend had to physically keep me from collapsing, because apparently a fun day is pushing my body past the limits

Understanding that this is a labor, actually could do a lot for understanding how we need to come around and support a lot of disabled people who need these kinds of supports but don't have access to them currently. People treat it like a task everyone can do, then are frustrated when some cannot

Please stop telling me that crime must be deterred. Studies have shown over and over again that in the context of criminal law, deterrence theory is a myth. It doesn't work. It never has. That's a copaganda myth.
