Yeah, I think acts will happen without even thinking about it, it's almost like they are an emergent property of stories.

I'm rather partial to my own strange mix of the four act structure and the seven act structure.

Yeah, it's a great way to add depth and meaning.

And you can add some extra poetry to your work with chapter titles. For example, if you have a chapter called, "The Empty Seat in the Kitchen," it can be able someone coping with the loneliness after their close friends and room mate moved away.

I'm allergic to that early.

I title mine. Not only for the readers, but for myself. I can never keep track of which chapters things happen in if they are just numbers. But if the chapter has a name, then I find it so much easier.

Let the story tell you that. Just decide, who is your MC? What goal do they have? What gets in their way?

I look at the story structure and try to set what part is missing or less developed. Have you got an outline?

I saw it mentioned in a video on YouTube that talked about villain deaths (as an example of how the villain can be a system rather than aa person) which I watched a few days ago. Flagged it as a movie I wanted to watch, and I'm glad I did!

Go to Netflix, find a movie called The Sea Beast and watch it.

Twice.

The first time, watch it to enjoy it, because it's seriously good.

The second time, watch it and look at it with writer's eyes, because it's extremely well-written. It will teach you a lot.
