My favorite mechanic in the whole system though is the way Crits work. It's a 2d6 system. When you roll doubles, that's a Crit. Crit's don't mean you succeed or even affect the roll, instead they give you 1 Power back 👀 Crits are tied into resources instead of success and resolves +1 Tension!

The way Turns work is also so smooth. When I tested this, this was the coolest part for me. One of the players goes first and then the Spotlight gets passed around. This is "Spotlight" initiative, which is something common in pocket RPGs. BUT both the GM - AND THE PLAYERS - can Interrupt on Failures

Also proud of how I handled area attacks. I have yet to see a pocket RPG that addresses them at all outside of specific abilities tied to a class or tag. here? Nope, anyone can make them. Spend 1-3 power. Attack +1 target per power, WITHIN your effective range. Super elegant, intuitive, and easy.

Characters are just as easy to put together and the tag system is so versatile you can play any class fantasy you want. Want to play a warlock that summons ice cream minions? Cool - Mgt 0, Mind 2, Guile 1 + Warlock, Summoner, Sweet Tooth tags. Congrats! That's a whole ass character in 5 seconds.

The simplicity of Threat scaling also makes it so easy for the GM to throw something together in 5 seconds. The players want to try and cross the massive lava pit? Great, that sounds like a Major threat to me. Let's give it the Intense Heat and Unsteady tags. Bam! Encounter in the space of a skeet.

I think what I'm most proud of with this design is how elegant the resolution system is. Combat? Tension system. Environmental problem? Tension system. Convincing the guards not to throw you in jail? Tension system.

It means the game isn't just combat, everything can be a "Threat".
