Good BBC article on this topic. We need to change the narrative around new development. This is about people’s lives and opportunities.

This will be an interesting twist of the proposed reorganisation that Cllr’s will be a bit further removed from a local area.

I think people are seeing from the wrong perspective. Councillors are being empowered to set the direction of travel in the local plan and key policies. Then probably consider and determine the outline planning applications for major schemes, but then let officers consider the detail.
