Drop in planning permissions casts doubt on England’s housebuilding target Number of new homes given go ahead last year was lowest since 2014

We clearly can't build 300,000 new homes a year if only 250,000 are given planning consent. on.ft.com/3F4ALd7

Agree that this could have a real impact and is a worry. Every devolution deal must include fixed dates for Strat and local plan production and agreement to timely decisions.

This will be an interesting twist of the proposed reorganisation that Cllr’s will be a bit further removed from a local area.

I think people are seeing from the wrong perspective. Councillors are being empowered to set the direction of travel in the local plan and key policies. Then probably consider and determine the outline planning applications for major schemes, but then let officers consider the detail.
