3D Analysis SIG board elections
The members of the 3D Analysis SIG (Special Interest Group) Board are elected for a minimum term of 3 years with the right to be re-elected for a second term. All Board positions will be open to interested eligible candidates.
1. General Information about the Board of CAA-GR
The 3D Analysis SIG provides a platform for bringing together researchers and practitioners to address the methodological, technical, and theoretical challenges of working with 3D data, from acquisition to analysis and dissemination. A founding goal of the group is to explore and advance the scope of 3D Analysis within archaeology. The task of the Board is to meet regularly for the purposes of the SIG. The Board has the right to opt for electronic voting whenever this is deemed appropriate.
2. Call for Candidacies
The current interim board is launching the election procedure for new Board members. All eligible candidates are invited to apply for a Board position. The election of the Board shall take place at the General Meeting (GM) of the SIG during the CAA2026 in Vienna by show of hands.
Submission of candidacy: Candidates should notify the current members of the 3D SIG Board for their willingness to stand for election by sending an email to the SIGโs email address (3d.analysis@caa-international.org) by Monday, February 16th 2026. In their email, the candidates should include a letter of intent (max. 1 page) and a short CV (max. 1 page) with webpage address and ORCHID-ID.
All information on candidates will be made accessible via the CAA-International and/or national channels.
3. Important Dates
Candidacy period open: Friday, 2 January 2026
Deadline for candidates: Monday, 16 February 2026
Voting: CAA2026 conference, Vienna, 31 March โ 4 April 2026
4. Board Members Positions and Responsibilities
The 3D Analysis SIG is administered by six Board members. The Chair provides coordination for the group. The Chair is responsible for making sure that the SIGโs activities are planned effectively, conducted according to the CAA-International constitution and that matters are handled in an orderly, efficient manner. They must be willing to commit a not insubstantial effort to the building of the community over the duration of their tenure.
Apart from the Boardโs Chair the remaining 5 positions have undifferentiated roles, to be further attuned by the newly elected board. Board members are expected to share steering responsibilities and workload as much as possible. All Board members act as representatives of the 3D Analysis SIG community in CAA International conference meetings and activities. They are expected to attend the CAA-International and National Chapters conferences to the best of their ability and work in connection with the relevant CAA-International committees to actively promote and coordinate the 3D Analysis SIG activities.
At least one position on the Board is reserved for a PhD student.
Candidates should indicate whether they opt for the Chair position.
Geographic diversity is encouraged to enable broad international participation, and presence in forthcoming CAA International conferences.
We invite interested colleagues to join our Discord channel (https://discord.gg/GRkuE4F4) for informal queries, updates, and community exchange.
