Wasn't there something from the administration about opposing Christianity... or something like that? Was it Steven Miller? Maybe it was just a particular sort of branded Christianity?

My speed hike up my fav mountain trail this morning was in the company of some twenty women trail runners. A happy, friendly gang, very fit, mutually supportive. Interesting to observe how the ethos is so different from men.

Render to Caesar what is Caesar's.... (But pardon me, Who is that god in whom we trust?)

After Donald Trump's address to military leaders today, "senior U.S. officers have to wonder who will shield them from the impulses of the person they just saw onstage," Tom Nichols argues in The Atlantic Daily.

Fall weather & the vegetable garden & backyard orchard are starting to close down. Concerned that our little granddaughters are going to think tomatoes, cucumbers, corn, and beans just come from plants. And apples and pears from trees. And cookies made with grandma. Not ready for the "real" world!

I have a recurring temptation to comment here on evangelicalism and Charlie Kirk. But I'll just say this: I spent last weekend at an annual evangelical church family retreat in the mountains. There were about 170 people, of all ages. And I did not hear Charlie Kirk mentioned once. Not once.

Thank you for your service! (The stench of political hypocrisy clings like a dousing of Axe on these two lads.)

Their waists and hands were tied together, forcing them to bend down and lick water to drink. The unscreened bathrooms contained only a single sheet to cover their lower bodies. Sunlight barely penetrated through a fist-sized hole, and they were only allowed access to the small yard for two hours. Detained by US immigration authorities for eight days, the workers and their families expressed shock, describing human rights violations and absurdities they could not have imagined as ordinary Koreans living in 2025.

If you know about Korea, you know that people will tell this story for generations.

Given the scale, tech savvy, cultural sway, strategic importance, and national pride of ROK, this might be *the* most lastingly damaging, idiotic move team MAGA has made.

Blessed by SecState Marco.

This whole Thiel Anti-Christ thing sounds so very weird. But if the Greek term "katechon" is now rising to the surface, I'm intrigued. I'm sure there will be a flourishing of expertise on 2 Thessalonians 2:6. (I was hoping the katechon would be the SCOTUS. But not so.)

I hope it's a thing! But I wouldn't delete them just yet. Let the copyeditor do that, I say.

As I recall, in the 1986 EDSA Revolution in the Philippines (overthrowing Marcos), protestors peacefully placed long-stemmed flowers in the barrels of the military's rifles. It was effective. Something equivalent for today?

The stupidity of this is appalling. Or more precisely, the stupidity she assumes of the American people.

The world is enough of a mess without these voices offering divine approbation to Trump's disordered mess of impulses and perceptions and rationales. Lord, help us!
I've been meditating today on Niebuhr's Moral Man and Immoral Society. And I recommend it.

So many troubling things rolling out of the Trump administration. But this bill to sell off millions of acres of public lands strikes me hard in the gut right now. Here in the PNW many of us--blue, red, purple--delight in access to these lands. A heritage held in common. Not profit centers.

Conserving our environment is an American value. From hikers to hunters we want to keep our public lands public! Thats why the unprecedented sell-off of millions of acres of public lands needs to be removed from the Senate Budget Bill.

Nature is non partisan! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

And those who interview him on TV, including PBS, don't know how to ferret out this issue. "Evangelical support of Israel" is a sort of black box.
