Fulling these blankets was a tough job. Watched Laura Fry’s class on Magic in the Water afterwards and they do both pass the cloth integrity finger poke test. Back to the drawing board for some sampling.

First weaving project of 2025! Have been wanting to try double weave for a long time. Plain weave all the way or get the rhythm. Wool warp and wool weft for the plaid one and suri/mohair/silk for the other. The warp was tough to beam on.

Are there any characteristics of the fleece that stick out to you?

Currently thinking about the same thing. I’ve heard that the schoolofsweetgeorgia is going to release a video this month comparing the ashford and louet ones. There’s a lot of options out there!

I’m thinking that I might try to blend the two for this fleece since both are relatively soft! The two layers are easily pulled apart by hand though. Waiting for 2 other fleeces to dry so I will see if they are also the same way! 😆 got some sampling to do!

Same as above, I really like the combo spin! A gradient with a combo drafted middle would also be super pretty! 🤩 don’t think you can lose anyway you choose to spin them!

Typically I’m spinning full 80-100g skeins! This one is a little mini one though. I’ve got several skeins of all different fibers/blends now! Not sure what to do with them all! 😆

Crepe yarn! Slowly working through different yarn structures. A small sample here. 2 ply + 1ply - everything plied in the natural opposite direction. Look for the single wrapping around the 2-ply!
