Read it yesterday. Itโ€™s great.

Why do all of these billionaire monsters think these collagen and Botoxed plastic surgery defects are the hotness?

I love your anecdote regarding The Wrightson Jones Kaluta Smith Studio book, I always realized respect and loved that your influence obviously came from the illustration world more than the more insular world of comic book artists that seemed a stronger driver for others entering the profession.

I think you just ruined one of my favorite movies.

P.S. when I decorated my Drumhead, I doubt any members of โ€˜The Strokesโ€™ had even been born yet. The Monkees were still a group with an active TV show

2/2 the word I saw might have been Stock, but I think it more likely to have been Stroke.

In my excitement, lost in detail of filling in letters serially, I had painted โ€˜The Stokesโ€™

Maybe heโ€™s had a stoke.

โ€˜No lie dudeโ€™ anecdote:

As a kid, Santa brought me a drum set. As I had an artistic bent, he also brought me art supplies. Items in proximity to each other, I went to decorating the drum head, using whatever word I saw first in the environment 1/2

Iโ€™m not here much, more active with the nerds, sjw types on Mastodon, partially because of less algorithmic, chronological timeline completist reasons. OCD much?

But the benign funny shitposting is more thick & casual here. Is it being scraped for AI training? Indubitably. But what isnโ€™t? Hi again

When people start talking about streaming services, I start referring to them in the convo as screaming services.

I had one chance to see David Live. It was between metal sets at a SXSW club and the various bands audiences would not clear out to let others in. I stood in line for over an hour then cut my loss to check out something else.

BlueSkyโ€™s โ€˜Latest skeet first, scroll down into older postsโ€™ format is the main obstacle keeping me from visiting here more.

Iโ€™ll spend hours reading my Mastdon timeline from oldest to newest.

Here, if the first few posts I see donโ€™t grab me, Iโ€™m out.

Oops, forgot to post the image of default โ€˜hotnessโ€™ settings. I do think bluesky scrolls backwards, always opening with newest. Iโ€™d rather it opened oldest unread. This merely complicates, lets an algorithm win?

I canโ€™t even begin to think about what this means what I might prefer; although I do think it could be gamed negatively; eg, a troll attack with a claque of โ€˜likesโ€™ raising their โ€˜replyโ€™ in your thread.

The chronological stuff confuses me because -is it for your entire timeline? Or just replies?

Wowsers! I just read my old skeets/fleets/ whatever here, and see that I posted about a terrapin in my commute 5 weeks ago. I forgot all about it.
Has to be the same turtle, donโ€™t you think?

It was 34ยฐ last night, but by 10 or 11 this morning, it was 54ยฐ, and I saw a terrapin roadside, neck outstretched, sunning itself.

No, I donโ€™t know exactly how it survives winter, but isnโ€™t it about time for it to find its hidey-hole?

Flaming poop sacks thatโ€™s weird! What my mom always said was โ€˜shit fire! (& save matches)โ€™

It was the two episodes per day no other established station picking it up would ever schedule that probably saved the show. Seems like Fox started with 4 great shows in heavy rotation.

That CBS data flub on a fan wiki probably meant his local cbs affiliate picked it up.

It was a trek wiki of places I saw that said that it had a CBS debut! Wikipedia says syndication. Syndication was more lucrative by then, and Paramount used that with new ownership laws jumpstarting a broadcast, more likely cable channel UPN.

27.11.2024 14:13 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I think it started on an old school network, didnโ€™t it? CBS? Boy George interrogates the cast of Our Town?

It didnโ€™t find its sea legs until 2 or 3rd season, which is about when heavy repeat UPN availability started (coinciding with that week in hospital) by episode 80 I was sold.

27.11.2024 03:14 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

By god I swear โ€˜encounter at Farpointโ€™ or whatever the fuck that pilot episode was kept me away from the show for years. If it were not one of the only two things on TV during a weeks stay in hospital (only programming on start up UPN network) Iโ€™d never had liked the show just from that debut.

No clever caption; but I have genuinely had dreams where I have driven up such an impossibly steep โ€˜roadโ€™ only to be stuck on a ledge with no space to turn around.

1976.

Before SCTV, many of its stars appeared on Party Game, the charades game show made at CHCH in Hamilton, Ontario.

When Catherine O'Hara did Letterman, Paul Shaffer would play the Party Game theme song:

Sorry, my error. I thought that said Hama Hama, not the popular childrenโ€™s book character Llama Llama

C band appeared in the 80s along with cable channels and other feeds associated with them with new sattelites. And the high bandwidth phone lines existed. But I bet TV stations were not total strangers to a big dish earlier. Live remote news was an earlier 70s thing, vans with dish antennas.

I visited a tv station around 1970. I donโ€™t think they were pulling much โ€˜contentโ€™ from the sattelite dish yet, using it for live feeds only? Their tape library was small at the time, like a walk in closet combined with control room. I think they kept their news and late movie transfers there
