The city of #Ljubljana in #Slovenia, population 280,000, kicked cars out in 2007.
Since then, car use has dropped by 32%, black carbon emissions are down 70%, noise pollution is down by 6 decibels.
Unfortunately, going car-free has made the center a living hell, as this video shows:

I reposted your thread onto facebook and within 30 mins I've had people flagging that it's more difficult to get these onto modern buses, which surprised me. It's generated more interest than I expected.

Got to say that there's much water to flow into the sea before there's any opportunity for Corbyn's party to dent the polls. However, the impact on party discipline could be immediate and could go one way or both.

One of the biggest microplastic pollution sources isnβt straws or grocery bags β itβs your tires
Rain storms wash those tire shards into streams and ultimately into lakes and oceans. Thatβs bad news for fish and other aquatic life.
Seems bad:
"We identified more than 30,000 tire wear particles in 24 liters of stormwater runoff from roads and parking lots after two rainstorms. In heavy traffic areas, we believe the concentrations could be much higher."

Gran VΓa, Madridβs iconic central avenue, has long been the cultural and commercial heart of the city. But by the mid-2000s, it had become overwhelmed by private cars, and noise and air pollution that failed to meet EU standards; reflecting the car-centric urban planning paradigm in post-war Spain.π§΅

Love that the Evening Standard carried this complaint about Neil Young as genuine.
A third viewer added: βFuming about Neil so-called Young just miming in front of a strobe light while writhing around in a pair of leather Y-fronts. This sort of pop outrage is killing live, quite dull dadrock.β

The scourge on Greater Manchester roads that should shame our region
The city-region has been shamed as a national hot-spot
Good to see the MEN giving coverage to the dreadful rates of dangerous driving in Greater Manchester.
Stockport has the 18th highest rate in the UK β but it's less than a third of the number in Bradford.

I still think Davey has work to do to make himself vitally relevant. Farrage's rise will squeeze Davy in the cities, but it might work to his favour outside. Labour worries me. Too many islands of reassurance - I can say that because I think Trafford is one such. I want Davey to get serious.
