Two fishing boats sail on a grey ocean, with seagulls in the overcast sky. White text overlaps the grey sky. It reads: A guide to 'From the Sea Fret' a 74k adult queer horror
Grey ocean, with a white-capped wave, serves as the background. The title reads: Excerpt Text is outlined: I scanned the horizon. It was just me on the water. There wasn’t anyone out sailing, or anyone swimming. I was completely alone. But… was I? Beneath me were leagues of ocean. Unlike in the forest, where you can hear the wildlife around you, there were creatures that could pass by in the sea and I would never know. The water concealed their movement, cloaking them from my view. It was getting harder to breathe. The vastness of the ocean was too open, and my skin felt too tight around my chest. I knew, deep in my bones, that something was beneath me and it was watching. On the port side, the water rippled. Though it was only a few steps, the length of the deck felt miles long. I was compelled to look below, and my body moved on its own accord. Though I was terrified of what I would see, I peered over.
Grey ocean, with a white-capped wave, serves as the background. The title reads: Pitch and Comps Text is outlined: Callum Point moves to the dead-end town of Perne to scrape together a new life. He's hoping that the small fishing town will give him what he always wanted; peace. Unfortunately, what greets him is a place rife with secrecy, conspiracy and creatures beyond comprehension. 5 posters for books and shows have arrows and notes coming out of them. Dredge by Black Salt Games has the notes: Capitalism despite the horrors. Something's wrong with the fish. Old Wounds by Logan-Ashley Kisner has the notes: Queer and trans identity. People are monsters too. The Fisherman by John Langan has the notes: Lovecraftian. Ocean madness. The Lighthouse by Robert Eggers has the notes: Ocean madness. Obsession with answers. Blood in the Bayou by Just Roll With It has the notes: Who can you trust? Small town cosmic terror.
Grey ocean, with a white-capped wave, serves as the background. The title reads: Themes A moodboard of 9 images sits in the middle. A hand reaching out into dark water. Thick seaweed-covered chains being pulled from the ocean. A foggy wharf at night. A group of sharks in dark water. A pencil drawing of a compass on white paper. Close-up of a hazel eye with the pupil completely white. A pile of fish. A porthole looking out onto a grey ocean. The inside of a fishing shack. Text surrounds the images. It reads: Paranoia turns revenge. Struggles with identity. Trans and queer rep. Grief over what could have been. Desperation to fit in. Cosmic/psychological/body horror. Content warnings: emotional abuse, attempted sexual assault, manipulation, transphobia, internalised transphobia, misogyny, cosmic horror, psychological horror, religious trauma, drug/alcohol use, gore, death, blood, paranoia, body horror
⚓FROM THE SEA FRET⚓ - A cosmic horror from a queer perspective
Callum Point moves to Perne in search of peace. What he finds instead are religious zealots, monstrous fish, and a constant fog that whispers to him.

A cover slide that has a desert background with the words, “The 35K word supernatural horror novella Windego: An Agent’s Guide”
A slide with a pitch and blurb. The pitch says: Ivy’s world comes to a screeching halt when her boyfriend, Vince, and his friends all vanish without a trace during a camping trip in West Texas. When Vince shows up cold and shivering on the doorstep in the middle of the night two weeks later, it feels like all of her prayers have been answered, but his strange and disturbing behavior leads Ivy to wonder whether he really ever came home at all. The blurb says: Ivy has everything a girl could want: a thriving pottery business, a beautiful home, and a boyfriend she loves . One weekend is all it takes to destroy her life beyond repair. When Vince and his friends all vanish without a trace while camping in West Texas, Ivy is left alone and adrift, until a stray dog shows up on her porch. She’s always wanted a dog, and Vince has always promised her they’d get one some day, just not today, or tomorrow, or next week. Taking the dog in feels like admitting that Vince is never coming home, but Ivy has to start rebuilding her life at some point. When Vince shows up two weeks later, cold and shivering in the middle of the night, unable to remember anything about his trip, Ivy is elated. She can see the life she’s always wanted coming back to her, and better than ever. But Vince and the dog can’t stand each other, and by shades and degrees, it becomes clear that whatever Vince went through has fundamentally changed him, and Ivy starts to wonder how different someone can become before they aren’t themselves anymore.
A slide with a texas flag style background. On the left it says For fans of: The Only Good Indians, A House with Good Bones, The Lamb, and The Hollow Kind. On the top right, it says: Themes: Facing intimate partner coercion and manipulation, mounting paranoia and distrust in reality, social isolation, platonic soulmates, and overcoming trauma. On the bottom right, it says: Key elements: Based in native american folklore (own voices), Unreliable narrator, Surrealist blending of reality, strong imagery, and body horror
A slide that says excerpt at the top and is followed by: Sometimes, he talks about how I’m different from Mike and Jake’s girlfriends. How Steph and Amber won’t run errands for them like I do for him, or how they insist on having something their way, how they aren’t agreeable or generous like me. I know it should be a compliment, when says he’s happy I’m not a “bitch-wife” the way they sometimes are, but it doesn't feel like one. When we first started dating, he only ever said bitch-wife to make fun of the men who married women they clearly didn’t really like - a jab at the idea of a man who thinks his wife asking for anything makes her unreasonable. We’d laughed together about it, said we loved each other too much to ever be that mean and bitter, that we’d always do anything for each other. I'd believed it too, when he'd said he'd do anything for me. I’m not sure when it changed, when he started to use it for real. It was slow, I guess. The kind of creep you don’t really notice until you hear it one day and it hits you that it isn't funny anymore. That it doesn’t mean what it used to. He still uses it the old way sometimes. Just enough that I can’t ever be entirely sure whether he’s really calling Steph and Amber bitches, or whether he’s mocking Mike and Jake. I like to think it’s the latter. I’m not sure when I stopped asking for things, either. When I started to fear becoming a bitch-wife, even while refusing to admit he means it. Texas is a state built on enduring. Enduring drought, choking heat, bitter cold, sweat in your eyes and dirt that tastes like blood in your mouth. An endless rocky, barren, bitter landscape that refuses to change, and people that refuse to accept it won't ever change. I am a true Texan. There are two more sentences, but they do not fit in the alt text limit.

BABEL ON CALLISTO Querying February 2025 @saraduranauthor sara.duran@bsky.social COMPS The Mountain in the Sea by Ray Nayler, labeled “isolated research station” and “philosophical alien threat.” The Salt Grows Heavy by Cassandra Khaw, labeled “queer, visceral horror” and “love as a consuming force.” The Deep Sky by Yume Kitasei, labeled “psychological unraveling” and “fracture under mission pressure.” PITCH “On a lunar prison outpost, two exiled men uncover a cosmic presence waking beneath the ice. As their uneasy alliance against it twists into something tender and terrifying, they are confronted with the one thing they never expected to find on a dead moon: a reason to live. But the ice is thinning.” TASTE “Neither spoke as Elias bypassed the security protocol on the keypad. The metal hatch shuddered as it unlocked, slinking back to hidden panels in the wall. They cleared the first few floors with carrion precision, methodical as Dermestidae stripping a carcass to bone. In Elias’s imagination, the gore thinned into something vaster—the time-lapse unraveling the ruin from above. Wordlessly, corridors were scoured to nothing as he and Jack moved like insects beneath an overhead lens. As the hours dissolved, their work became abstracted into a cold anatomy, intimacy pared away as cleanly as flesh from the frame until only the architecture of survival remained. When Jack hacked into the collapsed doorway to the next stairwell, Elias marveled at the contradiction: how those same brutal hands had, only that morning, traced him with the delicacy of a scalpel.”
