“A Taste of Kindness” Her eyes lifted above the bowl to spy a small figure darting in and out of the shadows. “This is most inconvenient,” thought the kitten. “My favourite midnight snack interrupted by this distraction.” Pippin watched as Miss Mouse scurried past her with a crumb of cheese in her mouth. “The nerve,” thought Pippin. “Right under my nose, too!” The kitten's eyes narrowed as she watched Miss Mouse vanish behind the kitchen cupboard—she was ready to claw and pounce. Then a curious thought washed over her. “Why chase and scare when I could be kind and share?" she pondered. “I do not need to make another feel sad. Maybe she is just as hungry as I am.” Pippin's whiskers twitched with the new realisation that she didn’t need to be like the other cats. No, she would let Miss Mouse quietly enjoy her midnight feast, and she would sleep in peace, knowing her small act of kindness had made a big difference to the life of another.
