4/ We call on the European Commission to ensure the Anti-Poverty Strategy:

✅ Prioritises intersectional data & funding

✅ Ensures meaningful participation of trans-led and sx worker-led organisations

✅ Advocates for the full decriminalisation of sx work

✅ Mandates trans-inclusive enforcement

3/ A rights-based, intersectional Anti-Poverty Strategy must tackle systemic inequality, deconstruct stigma, and ensure meaningful participation for those most affected. A headline target isn't enough. The strategy must dismantle the structural barriers that perpetuate poverty for all.

2/ Our new joint statement highlights that trans people and sx workers remain among those most affected by poverty, discrimination and exclusion. Yet their realities are too often ignored in policymaking.

8/ 💡 Overall, the results highlight the need to adopt an intersectional approach in laws and policies to better protect the fundamental rights of intersex people.

7/ Especially those with gender non-conforming identities, living under precarious socioeconomic conditions and with further marginalised identities are overproportionately affected.

6/ ⚠️🇪🇺With insights from 1,920 intersex respondents across 30 European countries, this report exposes the greater risks of human rights violations, exclusion and victimisation faced by intersex people.

5/ 🔹 More than half of the intersex respondents (53 %) contemplated suicide the year before the survey, compared to 37% of all survey respondents

🔹 Intersex respondents are the survey group that experienced the highest increase of violent victimisation (34%) compared to 22% in the 2019 survey

4/ 🔹More than half (57%) of intersex respondents said they or their parents weren’t asked for informed consent before surgery or hormone treatment to change their sex characteristics

3/ Here are the key findings:
🔹 Every seventh intersex respondent (15 %) has been physically or sexually attacked in the 12 months before the survey, compared to 5 % of all survey respondents

2/ Based on the latest survey of the Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) of 2023, it reveals that intersex people face higher levels of violence, harassment, and discrimination than the broader LGBT community.
