Exactly. Nothing about Lucius' character made sense or felt earned, and it creates this huge hollow space in the movie. I can't tell if I was tired by the end of the movie or it just felt extremely clipped and vague.

It was not a good movie on a plot or character level, either. I wasn't expecting historical fidelity, but the history provides so much that could be a better commentary on who we are today than whatever they made up. Like, the Macrinus reveal was exciting! But then it went nowhere, really.
