#lifeinperspective 2. My boss interrupting our work conversation as we were walking betwen buildings. She pointed at the sky and said "James! Look at the little bit of red in that cloud!" And then apologised for having done so.

19.11.2025 23:23 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The budget fiasco has been staggering. The plan to add 2p to income tax but take 2p off NI? This amounts to the same as adding 2p to the top 2 rates of income tax. That would have been relatively uncontroversial and arguably not manifesto busting. Instead, an utter shambles. π©
19.11.2025 10:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I wrote to my MP Alex Mayer after the 'island of strangers' stuff in June and made the point that there need not be too many others like me, who had switched to Labour last time, disgusted by this stuff for her to lose next time. The response was some pro forma No 10 dross. Yuck.

17.05.2025 19:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I read The Great Gatsby for the zillionth time last night, prompted by John Green's The Anthropocene Reviewed. And finally feel that I understand it a bit. 11.05.2025 09:23 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Well said. This mirrors very closely my reaction to Yvette Cooper's comments on reducing the visa quota for the heroic men and women who are prepared to cross the globe and do the unglamerous (and during COVID especially damgerous) work of looking after another nation's elderly.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cx... This really is abject. And very much speaks to Starmer's political problems. We voted for change, not for a xenophobic lurch to the right and continued austerity, all because Labour have becpme spooked by the vampiric shadow of Farridge. Disgraceful.
