The budget fiasco has been staggering. The plan to add 2p to income tax but take 2p off NI? This amounts to the same as adding 2p to the top 2 rates of income tax. That would have been relatively uncontroversial and arguably not manifesto busting. Instead, an utter shambles. 😩

I wrote to my MP Alex Mayer after the 'island of strangers' stuff in June and made the point that there need not be too many others like me, who had switched to Labour last time, disgusted by this stuff for her to lose next time. The response was some pro forma No 10 dross. Yuck.
