We built a robot (!) to track plant-fungal trade networks. By following half a million fungal highways & nutrient flows within them, we discovered how plants & fungi build hyper-efficient supply chains

Fungal endophytes could potentially promote plant resilience to climate change. However, across 3 warming experiments (differing in age/species/climate), warming disrupted plant-fungal endophyte symbiosis, with stronger effects in leaves than roots.

In our Opinion paper, we propose that soil inoculations can help overcome agriculture legacies in newly planted forests. Also, we consider that a re-evaluation of afforestation targets is needed to set realistic expectations of ecosystem recovery.

Itβs out!! We subjected soils from 30 different locations across Europe to extreme events and found that soil fungal and bacterial communities showed consistent responses that could be predicted from their origin! With @knightjar.bsky.social and many collaborators!
