It reads as follows: Since the beginning of his career, Drake has refuted claims of misogyny on the basis that he, in fact, has a mother: I’m definitely not the type of guy who demeans women, I value women because one of the greatest women in the world raised me to be the guy that I am, so I could never not see the value of a woman (CBS, 2010). Through his misogyny and misogynoir, Drake has not only affirmed his masculine performance but also has been rewarded for his abuse of women (Hassan, 2022). He has not just attained fame and fortune; his celebrity and wealth have reached exceptional heights. Drake’s story is as simple as it is repulsive, but what his success says about our larger society’s treatment of women is beyond the scope of this paper.
