I wish I had been a software developer instead of a tester. This country does not want software QA and I don't really qualify for my old job anymore, nor can I transfer to development.

Looking up some people I used to work with.

I really am the odd one out in my field. Some of these guys got to step up to more challenging work and go to Irvine or Mountain View California.

On my end I had to downsize my life and move back to my home town with no job prospects in the IT sector.

I have been laughing at this for a solid five minutes.

I should not be nervous on an event day or face to face event since they invite us all with intent to hire.

They are interested in all of us. We are there for a reason. Otherwise they would not invite us.

I mean we all take courses in that in college at any level but refreshers exist for a reason.

From what I know now through first hand experience myself, from speaking to other candidates the day of, and through reddit and facebook, rarely does anybody get in on their first attempt, second attempt, etc.

Usually it's the 5th or 8th or whatever.

Those that are still employed in it are safe but I suspect for the rest of my working life i will struggle to find any place in the remains of that is left.
