It would make a big difference if government departments withdrew from Twitter and moved to Bluesky, followed by at least the more progressive parties. Journalists would have to follow. Staying on Twitter isn’t engaging in debate, but merely adding a veneer of respectability to a far right platform.

Nigel Farage's racism denials are dishonest, says ex-classmate Peter Ettedgui tells the BBC Nigel Farage targeted antisemitic abuse at him when they were teenagers.

Former classmate insists Farage repeatedly told him "Hitler was right" and "gas them" when they were teenagers at Dulwich College - and that the Reform leader's denials are dishonest.

Reform’s β€˜Trumpian’ legal threats hint at more aggressive approach to media Ultimatums sent to publications appear to intensify as Nigel Farage’s party rises in polls

If you receive legal threats from Nigel Farage for your reporting of Reform, please get in touch.

We have employed a defamation lawyer specifically for this purpose and would love to help (and we do so on non-commercial terms). www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Far right groups will presumably also be protesting about nativity plays in which a Jewish family two thousand years ago seeks asylum in Egypt.

They’re doing to America what they did to Christianity | Bill McKibben Trump’s wrecking-ball approach to America has a precedent: the evangelical perversion of Jesus’s message of radical love to one of hate and aggression

Rightwing MAGA Christianity has about as much relation to the gospels as MAGA politics does to the Constitution.

There’s no excusing the Tories either. They took Β£millions in donations from super rich Russians close to Putin. My point is that Labour are in power now and need to take on the far right in all its forms.

If the government concentrated on Reform’s Russian connections instead of aping its immigration policies, think how different British politics might be.

That’s generally fair comment. My concern is that they will all be fatally tainted if this continues. Rayner, away from the front bench, might be insulated.

Whatever talent there is on Labour’s front bench is wrecking itself on the defence of foolish and immoral policies. Who will have the necessary moral authority left to be a credible replacement for Starmer?

Newly-elected Lib Dem president @joshbabarinde.bsky.social tells me he'll be "the last line of defence against Reform".

The Eastbourne MP plans to "campaign hard" to offer "solutions of hope and optimism that bring our communities together rather than tear them apart".

If Starmer wants to stop a leadership challenge, he just needs to change direction. It’s not hard. Have the brains to realise that the Blue Labour approach is failing dismally.

But more to the point - offering asylum to people fleeing war or torture or persecution is what decent nations do. It's what defines us. Without that it's just a race to the bottom.
