Shoving in a crumpled dollar bill. It keeps spitting it back out at him.

Grumbling. Why's the vending machine always empty when he wants something tasty?

A box toppled over, and a stray fisherman with it. His body convulsed and writhed, the groaning becoming louder. Eyes began to roll back.

They hadn't been spotted yet, but Leon had to play the hero.

He rushed to the man's side.

"Hey! Hey, are you alright?"

Giving him a phone number. Cute. An old way of doing things, like middle school kids in a playground. It was old time. Old school. Reminded him of Raccoon. Just like everything did.

"What- no QR code?" he joked, and pocketed the note.

Suddenly, a groan from beyond the docks.

He almost didn't even want to drink it.

Had enough of those.

Leon shook his head.

"It won't be that simple," he added, trying to temper the tyrant's expectations.

"You gotta admit, the notion's nice, but the optics... People are gonna be worried. I can vouch, but I'm gonna need to see more."

He glanced at his glass of water.

So, they needed medical treatment. It was easier said than done. After all the damage Umbrella had caused the world, opening clinics and hospitals required a much deeper and intimate discussion.

Board meetings, triple checks, quadruple. Sanitization was key. Wouldn't want to risk another outbreak.

"- About ten years back now. Hurt like hell. Gotta say though, it... felt good, in its own weird way. You ever kicked a guy's head off?"

A slight smile, eyes reaching hers.

"Think I would've taken moonlighting over what happened in Racoon City any day of the week."

She was fighting her past. In fact, they both were- in their own weird ways. First thing he learned after RC, was that the past couldn't hurt you, but Umbrella sure could.

"Touchy subject. Should've figured."

Trying to lighten the atmosphere, relate to her.

"They infected me with Las Plagas-"

A physical jolt in the atmosphere at that.

In his line of work, you had to be perceptive.

Lots of folks would poke the bear and get mauled. He tended to poke the bear and put it down- metaphorically and not.

"My bad," he added quietly. He could see the way her irises mellowed, and body tensed.

"We can, but you've gotta stay close. One more hit like that, and it's bye bye, bikinis."

She'd be taped up and ready to go at any second now. They were surrounded. He could hear her heart beating from here.

"Nasty wound," he uttered, finally finishing the treatment.

Leon unholstered his 9mm, and pressed his back to the wall, signaling her to follow.

His eyes peered over the barrier.
