As I worked on these, I decided to push myself to create more bright, hopeful art in the crazy years ahead—and to seek out more hopeful friends.

I ALMOST got the seam ripper out for the second one, but adding berries to the leaves made it more interesting :D

Once I had all the scraps pieced together, I took them to Beast (my sewing machine) and started stitching. It was cathartic—I let go of perfectionism and just sewed freely. It took a couple of days, but it was a much-needed distraction.

Sixteen vibrant fabric rectangles in shades of yellow, purple, blue, and red are carefully arranged and basted onto quilt batting. The fabrics feature a mix of bold florals, geometric patterns, and intricate designs, creating a lively patchwork full of texture and contrast.

The week of Nov 5th was overwhelming. I couldn’t bring myself to sit glued to the screen, watching the numbers roll in. Instead, I dug out a bundle of Anna Maria Horner scraps and started piecing them together. I called it "breaking out the bright colors to battle the stresses" it really helped.
