โ€œTerrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared.โ€

ICE admits that up to 50% of arrests in its Chicago raids are "collateral.โ€ These aren't statistics. They are parents taken from their children, neighbors taken from our communities. When does a "collateral" U.S. citizen child's trauma matter? This isn't law enforcement; it's a campaign of terror.

La Vuelta Collapses Miles Short Of Its Own Finish Line | Defector The worst-managed Grand Tour in recent cycling history ended in a fittingly ramshackle manner on Sunday, with the final stage of the Vuelta a Espaรฑa canceled due to overwhelming anti-genocide protests...

The fact that Matthew Dowd lost his job for pointing out Charlie Kirkโ€™s hate speech, while Brian Kilmeade openly suggests we should euthanize the homeless and there is zero outrage, shows exactly what is terribly wrong with todayโ€™s political mainstream media.

45 Million Acres of Public Vacationland Open to Loggers and Miners Ifโ€ฆ In 2001, the Roadless Rule was implemented after 600 public meetings and 95% public approval. The Trump government wants to eliminate it fast.

45 million acres of public vacationland open to loggers and minersโ€”if we don't fight by Sept. 19.

Here's how to make your voice heard.

RE:PUBLIC INDEPENDENT JOURNALISM FOR PUBLIC LANDS.

Something good: a new, nonprofit newsroom run by some wonderful, experienced folks (core crew from Outside mag's glory days) dedicated to journalism about American public lands! Looks like the plan is to collaborate a fair bit with other outlets.

These people will end up dead. Trump is a #WarCriminal (heโ€™s also a run-of-the-mill criminal too, multiple times over). This is unconscionable.

The lack of mainstream coverage of regular huge protests reminds me of a talk from a Twitter employees who explained that they had to drop BLM off the Trending Tags section because otherwise it would have been there permanently. The modern media environment has no appetite for sustained movements.

We built a calculator that doesn't work, but don't worry, it's also a plagiarism machine that will tell you to kill yourself. It runs on the world's oceans and costs 10 trillion dollars.

My students, who attend a working-class rust-belt college, openly talk abt how much they hate AI & are afraid of its consequences. I wonder how much of the oft-reported student enthusiasm for the tech is the merely result of the NYTโ€™s Ivy League bias

JUL 31 is the deadline to submit a public comment on the Vision Zero Action Plan for Indianapolis!

With that in mind, I have created detailed talking points about how I believe this plan should be implemented. Link to survey at the end of this thread. ๐Ÿงต

Five-star stays and Michelin-starred meals: Interest groups foot the bill for congressional travel Indianaโ€™s representatives saw little expense spared during international trips paid for with special interest groupsโ€™ money.

Members of Indianaโ€™s U.S. House of Representatives delegation and their staffers have accepted roughly $640,000 in privately sponsored international travel since 2020, an Arnolt Center for Investigative Journalism analysis of travel disclosures found. @indianacapitalchronicle.com

But I'm done with Paramount+. They canceled their DEI office and bribed a tyrant for this. I love my Trek friends, but I cannot use this streamer any more. This *sucks*.

This Was the Scariest Thing I Did This Year What it's like to walk the Veilbreaker bridges

I've jumped out of airplanes and hiked up 14,000-foot mountains before, but I don't like heights. I wrote about my anxiety-filled journey across two 2,500-foot suspension bridges at Alaska's Alyeska Resort for Inside Hook.

Reminder: Not a single elected official in Indianapolis spoke out after 10 kids were struck by drivers in a 30-day span.

Zero. None. Not a *single* one spoke up.

Not even 'Thoughts and Prayers' for the victims.

Not even a 'Drivers, pay attention โ€” kids are out' PSA.

Nothing.

Nothing.
