He was killed on camera. No one's family deserves to have to witness that. It's unthinkably cruel that people would then go on the internet and use their platform to say about an innocent man that "I don't care that he's dead." "He's not a hero." "He's a scumbag." "He shouldn't be celebrated."

I'm talking about George Floyd. You thought I was talking about Charlie Kirk? No, those are actual quotes BY Charlie Kirk about George Floyd. Outrageous that anyone would say that of the dead, right?

A friend of mine was on Charlie Kirk's "watch list" of Black professors. She received so many death and rape threats that her university offered her a security detail for the walk to class.

This is Kirk's legacy.

You would never know it from reading all of these legacy newspaper op-eds about him.

People missing an important point about folks getting fired for whatever they said about Charlie Kirk: Americans are being conditioned to be snitches on their fellow citizens who don’t toe a party line on what is β€œallowed” to be expressed. And employers are going along. It’s the new secret police

Hannah Arendt said 'The death of human empathy is one of the earliest & most telling signs of a culture about to fall into barbarism'

We saw the recent cruelty of MAGA denying empathy to Melissa Hortman

Empathy for Kirkβ€”not because he ever acted like a decent humanβ€”but because we are decent humans

The surprising recovery of once-rare birds It’s not every day that you see a 4-foot-tall bird, but it’s happening more often. Several fascinating species are nesting in and near towns once again.

πŸ¦…Good news! Once-rare birds like sandhill cranes, pileated woodpeckers and merlins are making a comeback.

Conservation efforts show how quickly nature can rebound when given the chance.

Starting today, 2.4M Americans, including kids, lose SNAP food benefits. Stores like Freshly’s Market in Mississippi that serve low-income communities expect a 35–45% drop in sales.

Children will go hungry & employees at Freshly's lose jobs.

Welcome to trickle-down starvation.

After the fact? After … the … fact? I’m a middle aged lifelong Democrat and I have never been more disgusted with the leaders of this party. The leaders of this party do not care at all because they know that for anyone with a shred of decency Dems are our only option. SHAME. And disgust.

Emmett Till's Legacy Lives on 70 Years Later in Witnesses, Activists To honor the 70th anniversary of Emmett Till’s death, the Two Mississippi Museums held a panel that touched on Mamie Till-Mobley’s legacy.

β€œThe Till story is not just a Mississippi story or a southern storyβ€”it is a human-rights story that is very much a part of this nation’s complicated historical fabric,” Daphne Chamberlain, chief program officer of the Emmett Till Interpretive Center, said.

2/2 Picture postcards of the murders were sold. These same spectators more than likely attended church every Sunday and Wednesday and sometimes in between and thought themselves to be good Christians. They were nothing but the most predatory and vicious animals. Every single one. Sickening.

I did a thesis on lynching in college. While everything about them was horrifying, some of the horrific things that stood out to me were the spectators to some of these murders.Sometimes special train service would be run to the murder site.People would bring box lunches as to a picnic. 1/2
