It's unthinkably cruel that people would then go on the internet and use their platform to say about an innocent man that "I don't care that he's dead." "He's not a hero." "He's a scumbag." "He shouldn't be celebrated." I'm talking about George Floyd. You thought I was talking about Charlie Kirk? No, those are actual quotes BY Charlie Kirk about George Floyd. Outrageous that anyone would say that of the dead, right?

A friend of mine was on Charlie Kirk's "watch list" of Black professors. She received so many death and rape threats that her university offered her a security detail for the walk to class.

This is Kirk's legacy.

You would never know it from reading all of these legacy newspaper op-eds about him.

Emmett Till's Legacy Lives on 70 Years Later in Witnesses, Activists To honor the 70th anniversary of Emmett Till’s death, the Two Mississippi Museums held a panel that touched on Mamie Till-Mobley’s legacy.

“The Till story is not just a Mississippi story or a southern story—it is a human-rights story that is very much a part of this nation’s complicated historical fabric,” Daphne Chamberlain, chief program officer of the Emmett Till Interpretive Center, said.

I did a thesis on lynching in college.While everything about them was horrifying,some of the horrific things that stood out to me were the spectators to some of these murders.Sometimes special train service would be run to the murder site.People would bring box lunches as to a picnic. 1/2
