Building Sonata.social (new platform for real humans) & Rentry.co (global top 3 paste site by daily visits). On a mission to keep online spaces authentic, creative and human as generative AI threatens these entirely.

My email to my MP about the #onlinesafetybill. Tomorrow's new rules will achieve nothing positive and show a complete misunderstanding of technology by the government. The solution is easy and simple: go all in on parental control systems, rather than creating even more problems.
24.07.2025 11:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Artists really need to band together in a stand against AI content, or they will all be completely drowned out
11.06.2025 17:26 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0One effect will be that unless you can also produce videos of the highest quality, your content will be drowned out. We might also see a surge of person in front of camera style videos doing well, though it won't be long before AI can consistently generate those convincingly too.
11.06.2025 16:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's great to see cara.app doing well as a social platform taking a stance against AI. More and more these sorts of communities will be necessary as AI improves and generated content becomes even more widespread. #ai #cara
11.06.2025 16:44 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It will not be long before all online written content is assumed be AI generated and therefore not worth reading. Blogging is on already life support, especially with Google's AI summaries. Medium blogs might last a bit longer but if a stand isn't taken, AI slop will completely dominate everywhere.
10.06.2025 16:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1Reddit was already getting overrun with AI bots and this just caps it off. Things were bad enough with their automated username system making it harder to spot patterns
10.06.2025 16:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This is awesome, thank you! I will definitely approach the owners to see if Sonata can collaborate with them in any way. Letting users connect accounts could be a nice way to start building an anti AI alliance as I think the internet is not far now from needing that sort of thing.
23.05.2025 08:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sure! I'm also making one myself, so it'd be good to know of any others.
22.05.2025 08:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Sad to hear about Cohost closing down recently, smaller social sites are becoming a rarity! The UK Online Safety Bill will make this even more common once the law fully activates in July.
20.05.2025 15:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0And all the while the work of real people is undervalued and cast aside. Writers more than anything will need to band together soon in a zero AI alliance.
20.05.2025 15:50 β π 16 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0π 1,000 People on the Waitlist! π
We just hit 1,000 sign-ups for the Sonata waitlist and weβre honestly blown away.
Thatβs 1,000 people who believe social media can be more meaningful. More creative. More human.
It's a weird one to describe, it's got a breadth of knowledge wider than any human but the competency of an intern.
13.05.2025 17:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If you're a senior dev it can at best act as a enthusiastic junior helping with mundane tasks. But if not it will likely produce working but heavily flawed and inconsistent code that will become difficult to maintain.
13.05.2025 16:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Endless slop that's visually impressive but containing nothing of any real substance, that actively demotivates real creatives from producing something actually worthwhile
13.05.2025 16:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ipad kids = early discovery and intrigue gone.
Tiktok teens = attention span gone
Adults using AI = ability to think gone
And AI is only just getting started
There's a lot of valid concern currently about unemployment steadily rising due to AI. As taxes can be readily defined as economic disincentives, any existing taxes that disincentivise employment (such as the recent UK increase to employer national insurance) should be reviewed immediately.
13.05.2025 16:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Surely there will first be a hype fueled reverse bubble, in which employers realise that AI agents aren't reliable replacements for humans yet and start hiring more again. AI is progressing fast however, so the trend is clearly real
13.05.2025 16:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0On the plus side this might be our finest opportunity to reduce labour while maintaining production, leaving more time for creative endevours. Though AI is smothering those areas too, I'm worried people will soon start to feel that working to get good at something is pointless.
13.05.2025 16:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0And the more impressive it is the more suspicious you get. Really sucks for talented artists
12.05.2025 22:27 β π 21 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Building a platform entirely with European based services is surprisingly challenging! Just decided on Bunny DNS, Hetzner, OVH and Netcup servers, Scaleaway backup, Com Laude Domains, Infobip for emails. #webdev
12.05.2025 16:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0One of the clearest examples of AI destroying creativity. Just as bad are the comments from others (this looks like AI, AI can do better). This exact scenario is coming for nearly every creative format if we don't stand up against it. #art #creative

And the UK creative industry is huge relative to the population of the country, it's one of our best assets and exports. Damaging it is exceptionally short sighted!
11.05.2025 11:19 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The speed at which people are happily throwing it away is astounding.
11.05.2025 10:01 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0It feels like it's going from theory to inevitability at this rate
09.05.2025 21:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Certainly more needs to be done. Thanks for your responses, I will keep an eye out for any future research by your team
09.05.2025 21:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That would certainly help to cover detectable AI and AI created by legitimate sources. How concerned are you about a state actor using AI agents to clash with people and slightly modify the narrative to their own end?
09.05.2025 16:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Switching from Windows to Linux sure is looking attractive nowadays
09.05.2025 15:10 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It just makes it too easy to not think. We're quickly heading to a world where the majority of things you read online are AI generated, whether that's made clear or not. Will we hit a point where we just assume that everything we see is not worth actually reading?
09.05.2025 14:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 030 minutes after joining Bluesky I was followed by my first bot, a fake adult account that's trying to farm views. The problem is far worse on Twitter, but they are starting to come here as well. Maybe some default restrictions on who can follow new accounts needs to be implemented? #bluesky
