"Wage compression" is discussed as a negative; service price inflation is discussed as a negative; and there's absolutely nothing from people better off due to an incredibly clear policy impact

Weird thing: the UK minimum wage has risen against inflation for years. It's now really high. Millions of people are earning more than they were as a direct result of this policy. And the impact on the vibes of the country is… entirely absent?

To give the ONS some credit, part of the reason they suck at this is because the British state has decided it's not its job to monitor who leaves the country, for some reason

it's not even the basic question of "can you get British net migration figures correct to within a single order of magnitude", it's also all the implicit secondary questions which are wildly important. Who's leaving? Where for? Why?
