contrast with the Parisian prosecutors office, which used the same tweet to announce a raid on X as it did to announce that it would no longer be posting on X

this is obviously a bit self-important i guess but — it is such a bizarre quirk of world history that Brexit was both so incredibly influential in getting us to this shit place, and also so _incredibly_ avoidable.

The extent to which Labour has doubled down on a transphobia policy that it didn’t run on, and was bounced into by a Supreme Court ruling that woefully misunderstood the intent of the law, is genuinely shocking to me. I know there will be an “I told you so” but I don’t think this was foreseeable.

luckily we just had a massive bout of inflation so it's just getting shrunk by fiscal drag. £12.5k in 2025 pounds is only £9k in 2015 pounds when it was last increased.

yeah one of the slow burner destructive policies of the 2010-2015 government was "lifting the poorest out of tax" (by making the first £12.5k earned by _everyone_ tax free, a giveaway that definitionally gave more money to people earning over £12.5k than those earning less than it)

something worth remembering: graduates already pay a tax on the benefits of going to university. it's called "income tax". the government takes 20-45% of the increased earnings resulting from your university education.

I've genuinely never posted my birthday on the internet, out of a sort of mild paranoia. I'm sure a dedicated enough stalker could piece it together. I wonder if Claude Cowork could.
