I think it just needs to be an actual federal government to achieve that, which is very controversial, I know, but I don't see it working as a cooperative. Unfortunately, the veto is always the issue, imho.

I'm very pleased to hear that the EU is not broken and look forward to Ukraine receiving the โ‚ฌ90 loan as early as last September, when it was first mooted and so desperately needed /s

I agree, Martin, but I think it's flawed. Things like CSDP, I don't trust it, precisely because the EU is slow to make decisions, take action, if ever. Another example, GDPR. I work with several charities and it's costly to work with GDPR. We had DPA before that, which worked better, imho.

Exactly correct. A separate alliance is required.

That's a fair point. However, I believe that it is also dangerous to assume that the EU is anything other than a cooperative open market. The assumption that the EU can act as a federalist oversearer is the flaw, imho. Is it even better still to form defensive alliances outside of it?

The EU is a broken concept that cannot be fixed. We need to start over.

Is that a useful comparison? British oppression drove Irish emigration fir years. Hence, as you state, "claimed ancestry" is the point. Yet Royal family tourism dwarfs ROI tourism (approx ยฃ50b vs ยฃ12b). Arguing about tourism is always in favour of a Royal Family ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

We don't have the French Riviera, the Italian Amalfi Coast, Rome, Venice etc or the Greek Islands, Pathenon etc. Definitely there are strong arguments for a Republic, but to present a false equivalence fallacy just undermines the case, my friend.

The Gates Foundation has done incredible work on improving health outcomes around the world, especially their work on Polio eradication. Without their support we would be nowhere near completing this. What is your point?

No. They are Russian soldiers who just got out of the Bahunka, that van that looks like a loaf of bread. The drone is flying fast (video is slowed down) and diverts in the last seconds away from target - the van - to hit the largest available target of already disembarked enemy, with great skill.

โ€œJust a magicalโ€ฆโ€ is idiomatic, not used in Canada, perhaps?
- Itโ€™s especially common in sports commentary, theatre/arts chat, or everyday praise.
- It carries that classic British understatement: โ€œmagicalโ€ but delivered as if itโ€™s the most normal thing in the world.

It means "showing great skill".
