i don't particularly like soul swaps in dramas but this in particular was utilized well! i really am enjoying this drama to this point, hopefully it will have a strong ending! 🤞

oh absolutely, some dramas take a little while to settle into, mainly bc the first episode a lot of the time is setting the foundation! so like you i do try and give it at least 3-4 eps to make my own mind up. if i don't like the tone/genre of something, it's preference - doesn't mean it's bad! 👍

absolutely understandable haha, i've not seen it yet so i can't verify either way; some people will like it and some will not :) but yeah i tend to not rate something if i've not seen at LEAST more than half of the show (usually the full thing).

yeah absolutely fair haha, it's more that it's annoying when people rate something badly after just 1 episode. doesn't only happen on MDL, happens everywhere, but i don't get why someone would do it lol.

with the amount of content out there it's impossible to immediately consume everything that you're interested in, and there's shows from years ago i STILL haven't had time to watch but look fwd to nonetheless!

i've seen them renew stuff that's terrible tho so i guess it's hardly based on quality 😬

seeing the outrage over a cancelled Netflix show recently got me thinking; their whole strategy to renew stuff based on viewing numbers just doesn't work!

i agree, rating after 1 ep should definitely not be allowed haha, or should just be a given that you can't make an assumption of a show after just a small snapshot of it. I do think a 7+ on the bigger scale of things is considered very good, but in MDL people will trash anything below 8 lol

I guess nowadays I just need to jump in and watch something and see how I personally feel about it! So many people just are downrating that it makes it hard to see what the overall picture is! I trust it's not for everyone tho, considering the themes, but it doesn't make it bad!

nah I get it! I think Jadewind has gotten more exciting recently with the later eps too for me (probably as it's linking back to the main story). How Dare You has gotten better recently lol, I found the last few eps solid at least!

it is very odd! and it's weird that Lovely Runner isn't considered a recent drama anymore lol! i get that there's a lot of kdramas that could be much better but I think taste is subjective, regardless I also notice how people rate a drama 1 star after barely touching it :|

true but generally on MDL anything under a 7.8 for a kdrama is considered abysmal haha. I do think there is something amiss with ratings on that site lately though, it seems like a lot of dramas get rating bombed fairly early on.

I thought it was just me that was feeling this way about the series haha. I love the cast obviously but I feel like there's something missing, like an emotional hook for me. I think the "case by case" structure kind of takes me away from connecting to the main leads - also bc of their stoic nature!
