I have been a video game writer for years now (fwiw) and have read nearly every well known book on the craft of fiction writing in any medium, even poetry and songwriting, so it's no small thing when I say that @chuckwendig.bsky.social 's book on storytelling is the best I've ever read so far.

In reading some of the articles on the movie, it's interesting that Rolling Stone (correctly) describes the undercover cop throwing the molotov, while The New Yorker attributes the act to a protester, completely rewriting the reality of the situation.

Even in fiction, they're cop washing the plot.

There's a scene in One Battle After Another during a protest. Police in riot gear are holding a line, and protesters are facing them, yelling, but not being aggressive. An undercover cop throws a molotov cocktail from the protestors side into no-man's land, excusing the cops to turn on the violence.
