I think the biggest difference between Undertale and Deltarune is that Undertale's earthbound influences are...very obvious

I also feel like a lot of them don't have much to do storywise individually once their section is over, unlike in Deltarune where even someone like Berdly advances the plot.
The two characters who do develop and fully change are Flowey and...Mad Mew Mew, who was released a month before Deltarune..

and no reason to kill anymore, compare that to say, Susie, who is almost unrecognisable between early chapter 1 and chapter 4! And hey, that's fine, they're still really likable and great characters, it's just you can tell Toby was learning how to write as he made Undertale! it adds to the charm

Something I've noticed after replaying Undertale is that unlike Deltarune, the characters don't really develop? Sure they become friends with Frisk but they dont really change that much as people, Undyne is the same person when we meet her and when we see her in the credits She just has a girlfriend

That last scene with Asriel in Undertale, the optional one you get if you backtrack all the way to the beginning after fighting him, it feels like a thematic setup to Deltarune almost, idk, I get that feeling replaying this a short while after a boss in Chapter 4 where there was no merciful option

Some thoughts on Undertale after replaying
-This game is still charming as hell
-a bit oddly paced, felt like there should've been something between Mettaton and New Home
-it's even funnier as an adult
-Wow Flowey's in it a lot less than I remember
-The walk back to the Ruins at the end was magical

at the end of replaying Undertale, and it's been surreal seeing how far Deltarune was planned ahead aha

I can see why Toby hasn't ported the Mad Mew Mew fight to the other versions of Undertale, wouldn't work the same way, probably the most fun and inventive fight in the whole game.

kinda ruined that by playing with the Pro Controller ...

It's weird how I vividly remember all of Undertale as if I first played it a week ago...except for the Hotland section, I genuinely forgot like almost all of it, all the Mettaton encounters like the jetpack section or bomb diffusal, it felt so surreal but fun and fresh ^.^

Yeah no sorry, after replaying like half of Undertale so far, I can't like, say it's a bad or "rough" game because of Deltarune's existence, it's too charming and comfy

Pluralism is weird because I said this as a headmate who has existed for a few weeks

Going from a NEET to someone who's constantly going out on little adventures has been one of my proudest achievements as a person

My system works in such an odd way, it's like its own little world, like, actually, it's own world, filled with things and trinkets for various purposes, and it runs in the back of my mind without me thinking about it so much, now isn't that amazing?
