I also used a new method to quantify very long (2700 bp+) eDNA fragments using duplex ddPCR.
When we combine two mitochondrial assays in duplex, we can use double-positive droplets to quantify the "bridge" between them. Fancy but straightforward stuff.

Differential Decay of Multiple eNA Components from a Cetacean
Environmental nucleic acids (eNA), such as DNA and RNA, are powerful tools for monitoring biodiversity. Yet, interpreting eNA detections requires understanding their environmental persistence—especial...
🔬 Our new preprint is out!
We tracked the decay of multiple #eDNA 🧬& #eRNA molecules from bottlenose dolphins🐬 in seawater.
It may seem like I have caved in for charismatic megafauna. But do not worry. in reality, I am still only interested in their molecules.

Comparing the Fate of eDNA by Particle Sizes and Molecule Lengths in Recirculating Streams
The detection of environmental DNA (eDNA) has revolutionized aquatic species monitoring, yet interpreting eDNA data remains challenging due to gaps in our understanding of eDNA ecology (i.e., origin,...
New paper alert! 🚨- My final PhD chapter is finally out!
What happens to different eDNA components in water? 🌊💧
We tested particle size (small vs. large) and DNA molecule length (86 vs. 387 bp) in recirculating streams—and what we found might surprise you! 🧵👇
