It’s much harder to get a bunch of people from different racial and cultural backgrounds to vote for you. Its also much harder to lie to people about other countries and immigrants when they actually live in the places you’re telling lies about, and when their neighbors are tourists and immigrants

There is a reason Trump chose to take over the Republican Party

Which party sounds easier to deceive?

Can we even celebrate Independence Day tomorrow?

Our president rules as a King

Birthright citizenship may end

Speech and the Press is censored

Healthcare and Education has been defunded

Environmental laws demolished

Is the right to Life, Liberty, AND the Pursuit of Happiness still possible?

We CT scanned thousands of vertebrates from US natural history collections and made them freely available. Countless people have used the data for research (>200 pubs) and to learn anatomy/morphology.

The U.S. is in a Civil War of corruption and misinformation

The Educated and Socially Aware
vs
The Deceitful and Misinformed

It’s easy to tell which side is which when the top U.S. Universities, previous Presidents, majority of Women, and leading Scientists are all against Trump and his MAGAts

You’re probably right, unfortunately they have been going after a lot of universities. But it’s the big ones with the most money that get most of the press

Harvard risks $9B in funding as it resists Trump administration proposed changes Attorneys for Harvard said that the university was “open to dialogue” but said the school was not “prepared to agree to demands that go beyond the lawful authority of this or any administration”

The Trump administration is threatening to eliminate federal funding to U.S. institutions, unless they allow the federal government to make changes to leadership, faculty, the hiring process, student groups, classes, amongst many others

Yes, agreed. They mentioned hoping that this success and media attention would help raise awareness for wolf conservation including their programs focused on currently endangered wolf species like the red wolf while also improving their gene editing methods for use on future species

Yes, they are modified gray wolves. Regardless of how close the DNA matches even a complete match could not guarantee their behaviors (parenting, hunting techniques, vocalizations) would be the same. An extinct species is lost forever, however this is at least a step to getting some diversity back

Access to scientific papers is not always the same in all countries either, so just because it is behind a paywall in yours doesn’t mean it isn’t open access in another and easily accessible by bots

03.04.2025 16:59 — 👍 4    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Sadly paywalls aren’t very effective at preventing AI bots. You can access the contents of just about any journal or article for free if you know where to go. However, most people don’t know the legal or illegal tools that are just a click away in order to do so.

How can we expect to have a country of highly educated individuals when most of our science-backed and peer reviewed articles exist behind a paywall? Meanwhile, all the misinformation and intentionally biased news is easily available and always free.

‘Animals do speak, but only to those who know how to listen’

Understanding animals requires paying close attention to their actions and cues, rather than assuming they are silent or unintelligent.

Land use in tropical regions: Biodiversity loss due to agricultural trade three times higher than thought Exporting agricultural products from tropical regions to China, the U.S., the Middle East, and Europe is three times more harmful to biodiversity than previously assumed.

New research finds that trade is impacting biodiversity much more than previously thought. This is why consumption matters.

“international trade has caused more than 90% of loss that occurred between 1995 & 2022 due to conversion of natural areas into agricultural land”

Women are credited less in science than men - Nature The difference between the number of men and women listed as authors on scientific papers and inventors on patents is at least partly attributable to unacknowledged contributions by women scientists.

On #InternationalDayofWomenandGirlsinScience let me remind you that we are NOWHERE NEAR parity. A few examples.

1. Women are credited less in science than men.

I have talked to veterans all over the country. They’re not happy that, when the VA is already understaffed, Musk wants to dismember the VA by laying off 83,000 employees.

A commitment has been made to those who put their lives on the line to defend us. We must not betray them.

BREAKING: Ontario’s terminating its $100-million deal with Starlink, and US companies will be barred from future contracts.

They warned NY, Michigan, and Minnesota if the tariffs persist, Ontario will impose a 25% surcharge on electricity and may cut off the supply entirely.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.
