I'm glad Kirk is dead, but if we promote the death sentence for even one person for their exercise of free speech, even if that speech is vile, we promote fascism.

I absolutely agree that it is perfectly fine to feel pleased about or even celebrate the death of such a terrible person. That said, I want people to keep in mind the distinction between taking joy in Kirk's death and taking joy in his murder.

The solution to fascism is to remove the problems that lead to it, such as wealth inequality or lack of intercultural experience.

Use of the death sentence as punishment for the exercise of free speech, no matter how vile, is fascist. And that's what you approve of when you celebrate a murder.

So Charlie Kirk was just shot. And like... Jesus Christ, guys, he's a piece of shit, and I hate him, but he doesn't deserve to die. The only time killing is justified is if it is immediately necessary to save the life of another person who is being actively threatened. Don't kill people you hate.

It is not the responsibility of government to censor individuals. However, I believe that government should require public platforms to remove disinformation under penalty of fines. Freedom of speech is great, but that's not the same thing as freedom to platform deception.
