I always pitched, and I wanted to be ambitious, but Canadian media was and still is stuck in the same cycles that inhibit its talent from being themselves. Working with creators and being able to guide their careers has been a blessing and a big testament to what I always knew I could accomplish.

I didn't have any comedy management experience before working with Hassan, but we believed in each other. What I felt I understood, and what I believe my former employers and bosses always undervalued, was my ingenuity, deep understanding of strategy and how to connect with an audience.

This past weekend, we sold out three shows at the same venue. No other headliner, no other acts announced. On our merit. We had two sponsors work with us who want to re-up their deals. We executed in every facet, and we generated 3x the revenue as the previous year.

Throughout the year, we continued to grow and grow. He hit 100K on Instagram and TikTok, and while that number doesn't seem significant, our engagement was 50% and, at times, hit a peak of 98% - which is unheard of.

In 2024, we were ambitious, did a dual headliner, and sold 1,900 tickets—two sold-out shows at the iconic and stunning Winter Garden Theatre.

What a difference a year makes.

Last year, I scaled up Eidiot Mubarak, a comedy show celebrating Muslims created by my client, Hassan Phills. He originally had 600 people in a church, rented chairs and set them up with friends.

Okay, this is reductionist, but I watched the sam seder jubilee video. We have Republicans who argued:

Rules for the rest of the world, but not for Israel.

Yeah, absolutely correct on your end. I just don't think the unions, despite having data and ability to connect to their members, fully understand how to educate their members on the impact of voting within their specific regions. The PACs are underfunded and a lot of talk, with little action.

Labour in Ontario is disorganized and doesn't understand the power they have in politics. Outside of fighting for issues related to singular union issues, they do not organize political education for union and non-members to the degree they should.

I'm going to be a lot more active here. Posting opinions and updates on news happens contextually because how you consume information matters. Rest assured that everything will be digestible and easy, and we can have open discussions.

Texted and interacted with a few sources in Liberal camps and they're overjoyed it was Carney who won. Again, Liberals, who worked with Freeland for 10 years preferred Carney because of how Freeland's resignation letter and failed coup d'etat.

More to this, you have to wonder if there is room for Freeland moving forward in the party. I imagine a lot of Trudeau’s senior leadership will be staying on with Mark Carney.

Chrystia Freeland essentially ended Justin Trudeau’s time as PM by resigning from cabinet. She was long thought to be the next PM in waiting, but 8% of Liberal voters voted for her.

Nearly all senior Liberal leadership and staffers supported Carney.

This is also the first full year I've had where I've been disabled. It has been humbling and dramatically continued to shift my thinking about society, ableism and the constructs in which people without wealth endure.

30 today.

Blessed to see this day — with a lot of love. 365 days and a lot has changed, but I have a lot of the same good people around me. Lots of down, and some of the biggest ups. Eternally happy to see many of the people around me thriving.

~personal news~ my time at Global News is ending. It's been 2.5 years going from the National Online team to being on your screens in Toronto and Nationally. I know I did some great and unique journalism, filled with joy and accountability — always for the public.

Thank you to everyone at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon — especially the Torontonians on the street providing brevity and cheers. Our city is challenging — but days like this remind me of how great we are and can be.

I persevered.

My body wanted to quit — and while my race time wasn't pretty, I'm happy that at 6’3, 250lbs, I did it. Now I plan to eat my face off.
