Lecturer (Education) in Modern European History at Queen's University Belfast
Apply now for the Lecturer (Education) in Modern European History role on jobs.ac.uk - the leading job board for higher education jobs. View details.
A proper 12-month replacement post with decent salary (for UKHE, at least) in modern European history. Belfast is a decent place to live - relatively affordable apart from extortionate pint prices - and I can personally vouch for what a great & friendly School we have.

The Corleck Head • Cavan
As we're in the time of Lughnasa, it gives me an excuse to share one of my favourite artefacts in @nmireland.bsky.social – the Corleck Head.
It was found in 1855 near Corleck Hill in County Cavan, where a Lughnasa festival was regularly held.

Moral stone-throwing: suffrage militancy in the north of Ireland and its impact
Irish History Students' Association · Episode
I’m excited to share that my IHSA podcast episode is now available on Spotify.
It explores the nature, causes and consequences of suffrage militancy in the north of Ireland in early 1913, and amplifies the voices of little-known UK women’s suffrage activists.

A long two storey brick building with 3 story blocks either ends. Green grass in front.
Had a great excuse this week to revisit a workhouse.
Limavady (or Newtownlimavady) was opened in 1842 as a medium model capable of holding 500 paupers.
It is now better known in the area as Roe Valley Hospital where some outpatient services are still in operation.

the first complaint. The exhibition was literally a hut with no obviously sexual representations; just touching diary entries about love and romance (even those could only be heard through a phone installation). These people find any mention of LGBT lives intolerable, and are best ignored/ridiculed.
