do you want to read a fun sci-fi romance novel about two queer people who are weird as hell and are surrounded by a bunch of other people who are weird as hell. and also they're ice skaters. in space.

A section of prose. It reads: Valeria stepped aside so that they could enter the rink, the roar of the audience starting to rise to normal volume, the after-program cotton falling out of her ears. Hey, Lu mouthed to her, like they were strangers in a bar. They slipped off their Martian jacket to reveal their skating outfit, which in turn revealed massive amounts of golden brown skin. Valeria had set her features in stone already and would not give the cameras anything to feed on. She allowed Panqui to pat her shoulder as she made to leave the outer ring of the rink, but she was wrenched back by her outfit, so hard that she for a moment worried about the mesh tearing. She snarled at Lu, grabbing them by the wrist. “What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” “There you are,” they whispered, from the ice. Valeria felt ready to pounce, not in a sexy way, but they leaned over the barrier and pressed their lips to her ear. The crowd was screaming. “Watch me,” they murmured. Valeria felt their hot breath on her ear in steamy curlicues. “Please?” Valeria pulled back. Their eyes were a party, a cluster of glittering debris surrounding the planet of their pupils. “Fine,” she said slowly. She liked this party. She hadn’t wanted to be invited before. She’d forgotten what it had been like to not be invited. She let Lu tilt their head demurely down and let the whites of their teeth wink at her. “Go ahead, then. Show me what you’ve been working on.” Lu twirled away through a happy sigh, like they’d just torn off the last petal on a flower and been assured of romantic requital.
