I thought I heard one of your "symbols" panelists mention Gim Wong. I met him a couple of times. He was a cool gentleman. Pictured here on his motorcycle ride across Canada and at Burnaby's Digney Speedway in 1948.

"Tree hugger" was a choice as a B.C. symbol. Thank christ it didn't beat Ogopogo. I'm going to have to reread these late '70s books from back when loggers were the darlings of the Left. "A working class hero is nothin' to be" these days.

Released on this day back in 1977. I remember hearing it on the old CBC radio program, Great Canadian Gold Rush. The days when rock on the "mother corp" (as J.B. Shayne called it) was at most 90 minutes per week.
