Programming in psychological science
A practical introduction
🧠💻 We (a bunch of colleagues at @cimcyc.bsky.social) just released a programming guide for psych & cog neuro students. Instead of a tutorial, this is a starting point: a collection of reflections, examples, and recommendations.

To recap for the back of the class: when I plan to turn off the oven, I may first want to prepare plates to serve the food. In analyses, we see that the planned action of turning off the oven is maintained in working memory dynamically, adapting to me doing something else between now and the oven.

A great preprint is available for you! 👀 If you want to chat about these results, I'll see you at ICON in Porto this September with a final poster about the article. It was great fun to work with @lindedomingo.bsky.social and @gonzalezgarcia.bsky.social on this, thank you!
Look below for intuition.

🧠New preprint!
We show that different priorities shape the neural coding of planned actions in working memory. Using EEG+RSA, we find that expected interference leads to anticipatory changes in representational geometry, beyond simple maintenance.
