Bit late to the party (heh), in my defense I joined Bluesky today - but did want to say this is one of my favorite podcasts and Jeff's commitment to AP and the AP community has been a huge positive influence on the work I (and I'm sure others) are doing in the space right now. Go take a listen!

(5/5) I knew we would need players with some specific skills - all of the players were filmmakers of some stripe before AP, and two of them are AP editors. But even so, I was blown away. They're mad impressive.

Hope that answers some of your question @ragepandapajamas.bsky.social !

(4/?) We knew we were going to edit this as if we more or less had 8 cameras at the table, so there was a little pausing if we were going for two characters across the table in a shot-reverse-shot, but in the waiting-to-speak pause, not discussion paused.

(3/?) So this meant that in addition to doing all the performance aspects of a filmed AP, the players were simultaneously operating a camera as a group under the table, mostly by touch with very little above table communication. We blocked 8ish possible camera angles, but nothing was locked off.

(2/?) This meant that anyone at the table could literally "take the wheel" to operate the camera. I wanted this design both to continue the "players filming" aspect and also mirror the narrative handoff built into 10 Candles mechanically.

(Just because I have not yet filmed this video and I need to brag about my players)

Imagine the rig as a circular ship's wheel, with the table on a static post coming up from the center. The camera was on a small arm that was attached to this wheel and came up over the table.

Hell yeah hell yeah. This was so much fun to record! If you had any questions about Last Train to Brooklyn, Sam probably got me to answer it in this:

Oh, you didn't hear that we made an actual play on the NYC subway? Yeah, we did that. It's called Last Train to Brooklyn and it's now streaming on YouTube.
