Another recommended “everything old is new again” watch the 11-year-old has enjoyed is “The Manchurian Candidate” (Angela Lansbury edition, obvs)

I am excited to share this groundbreaking study examining the prevalence of nursing students with disabilities in prelicensure BRN programs. Establishing prevalence provides a framework for recognizing disabled nurses as an underrepresented group in nursing. It was an honor to work with this team.

Penn scrubs diversity initiatives from its website to comply with Trump order “The bottom line is this is not a time for anticipatory obedience when it comes to the university’s commitment to end antiracism and non-discrimination,” said Amy Offner, Penn's AAUP chapter president

I will not stay silent, even if it requires speaking out against the place where I work. I really hope other faculty, staff and students speak out as well.

I’ll say it for a third time, this is anticipatory obedience related to the fear of losing funding.

The best peer review feedback I ever received was on a lit review. They wrote that something I was trying to do to make the staid and formulaic way of writing these things more interesting was “Troubling and surprisingly off the rails” and it was the best academic compliment I have ever received. 🤓

Nurses are outraged that the Trump administration rescinded guidelines protecting hospitals from immigration raids.

Our patients should never be forced to forego lifesaving treatment because our government turned hospitals into places of harm and terror. www.nationalnursesunited.org/press/nurses...

I am working on figuring out a backup plan for my child’s lifesaving medication in the event that his provider becomes unable to prescribe it. It’s a concrete action. That’s all I got.

A Brutal Beginning: Orienting Ourselves Amid the Shock and Awe We must be prepared to live and act defiantly, deriving no legitimacy from the illegitimate brutes who would govern us.

I wrote about Trump's executive orders, including his attacks on trans and undocumented people, and how we should be orienting ourselves to defy fascist violence in this moment. This piece includes commentary from @chasestrangio.bsky.social and @silkys13.bsky.social.

I was a religious studies major and took every non-lab science I could to fulfill the distribution req. I took a (now, cringily out of date) class called “Women, Medicine, and Biology” or WoMB 🥴 with OBOS as the textbook and, anyway now I’m a nurse!

I’m not against “AI in higher education” wholesale (but if we’re also going to include climate change in our curriculum we should address the heavy use of resources) and in fact appreciated Justin’s team and others who addressed its use to enhance learning (and not just the “but cheating” angle) 4/?

try to implement the (coming soon) newest version of the Code of Ethics is making my head swim. Anyone else who was there— was it just me? Or were the vibes weird? And, more importantly: Are we moving our work as educators forward in a way that truly centers students and recipients of care? 3/?

And of course @theseatednurse.bsky.social ‘s epic plenary speech! But trying to reconcile the heavy emphasis on AI and the Essentials with some of my colleagues’ genuine fear for their jobs if they (for example) talk about antiracism, put up a “Safe Zone” sticker on their office door or 2/?

Still trying to gather my thoughts and take some perspective on the AACN Transform conference I just attended. Highlights: @nursejustinrn.bsky.social and team doing their thing (and feeding me 😊) and the Frontier midwives talking about including #culturalsafety in nursing education 1/?
