Hi Quail Ridge Community, A number of booksellers are feeling overwhelmed by the recent news cycle. We know that’s true of many of our customers, too; it’s being expressed both directly and through the books people are interested in — whether those are nonfiction guides to current events or engaging fiction as a means of temporary escape. As a community bookstore, we try to be broadly welcoming. But we’re at a time when specifics are needed and unstated values do need to be made clear.

We support the freedom to read. We welcome readers, and we seek to provide a selection where every part of our community is reflected — across gender, race, sexuality, and religion. We oppose censorship that seeks to reduce the freedom of others to choose what books are appropriate for themselves and their families. We support teachers and media specialists in their curation of titles and their fights against censorship in classrooms and both school and public libraries. We do not share customer information, including purchase information.

We support our LGBTQIA+ community. We welcome you, and we wish to be a safe place for you. We do not invade the privacy or police the gender expression of those using the multi-stall ladies’ room; we have long described our single-person restroom with the baby-changing station as open for anyone, regardless of how they identify.
