I've had that Levenger table for 30+ years to pull references up. It's a great table. I lucked out that it slides under the workbench, even when partially raised.

Lawyer dad in Marshall, Texas, mostly federal courts & patent litigation. Interested in WW II, scale modeling, history, books, & learning. Scale fundamentalist - only 1/700, 1/200 & 1/72. Extremely fond of the rule of law and almost as fond of Canadians.

04.08.2025 00:43 β π 14 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Shoho end of Day 1. Canβt believe how fast this build is going. Graf Spee β¦ not so much. #Histscalemodels
03.08.2025 05:34 β π 15 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Unbelievable how fast this old Hasegawa Shoho is going together this afternoon. Hull and waterline plate complete, and already have the flight deck painted, sealed, and dry-fitted. The parts count is βwayβ lower than the Graf Spee! #HistScaleModels

Aside from very good scale modeling, Herbert Erpaderp is fun to say.
Iβm not actually working on a model today in the workshop (yet), but I am busy as hell organizing my workspace. Championship level puttering going on out here. putteringinthestudy.com/2025/08/02/m... #HistScaleModels #ScaleModels
02.08.2025 20:30 β π 18 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Prime day in the workshop. Canβt decide what to start next, so primed four kits. The IJN Shoho got light gray, the Hetzer and light vehicles Dunkelgelb, and the StuG III Ausf. G Rotbraun (which was the actual primer color). #HistscaleModel #ScaleModels
02.08.2025 20:02 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I checked - it is supposed to be mixed with water. I had just assumed that was the case, but it is correct.
01.08.2025 04:34 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs a βterribleβ scale for armor. But if I did anything bigger Iβd never finish. My attention span is just not what it was. And this way I get to learn about new subjects quicker.
01.08.2025 04:31 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Next build - my ultimate StuG. Look at this insanity in 1/72. MiniArt StuG III Ausf. G - Last Albert Prod. The upper tracks actually have βsagβ in them. Numerous options for the six subjects. #HistScaleModels
01.08.2025 03:35 β π 33 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0This will be mine, built as 909. Iβve had decals for several years, but the kit came with a set for 909 as well, so will see which I end up using. Kit seems pretty basic compared to what I assume the newer Airfix and others are, but Iβm not looking for a full interior build.
01.08.2025 03:27 β π 12 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I canβt believe I just saw this after spending two days making baggage out of folded tape!
01.08.2025 03:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yes. I put some in water and brushed it on. I tried it dry and didnβt seem to do much. I definitely overdid it with initial coat - it shows up when it dries. But so, so, happy with it versus just a thinned paint wash.
01.08.2025 03:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I was βveryβ happy with it. I should have picked up some more mud for other builds. Next time Iβll start with a lighter coat and build up - I overdid it here. But it replicated what the photos showed better than the usual washes I have been doing.
01.08.2025 03:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Finish coat tomorrow, then the Royal Scots Greys Mk3 Grant is out the door. Really enjoyed the desert weathering and making and attaching all the baggage. #HistScaleModels

01.08.2025 03:16 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0About a third of the way through adding weathering and the various rolled up items attached to the tankβs sides. Using Vallejo 73.121 Desert Dust in water, and really happy with it so far. After it dried I think I overdid it, but I think I can wipe it down. #HistScaleModels

28.07.2025 00:38 β π 30 π 2 π¬ 4 π 0I've been looking for an excuse to add a Sherman to my 1/72 collection. This should push me over the edge. But which variant? Fortunately I have a son who's a tank nut.
28.07.2025 00:32 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0βBothβ Leonardos - one is about a block away from the other, and theyβre both enormous in terms of kits - 1 & 2 in terms of # of kits Iβve ever seen in one place. I do not specifically recall 1/32 aircraft kits, but as a Scale Fundamentalist I would have averted my eyes anyway.
27.07.2025 21:34 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Well, in 1/72 Iβm not getting too concerned. But also, the real thing appears painted, not brushed, and kinda wishy washy. So I think brush is the best option here.
