To your original point though. Twin Cities has some diversity among the trans community. It is largely white though. I can't speak to their experiences, I haven't seen blatant racism in our community, obviously doesn't mean it doesn't exist. The community is large and connected though.

If you hate the Cold and need a progressive area, I'd recommend California or Oregon on the coast. Unfortunately it's all very expensive. The cold is the price we pay for a better cost of living. My choices were Denver and Portland. Minneapolis won out on cost/ temperature, plus fresh water access

I mean, we are mostly inside creatures. And also, the feeling of stepping into a warm house from the cold air is simply divine. Cozy. That plus the smell of a warm stew that's been going all day? Magical.

I'm a bad example. I'm from Montana but spent the last 10 years in Texas. My body instantly adjusted to the cold like I was coming home. Just wear the appropriate clothing, no hassle. Unless you work outside, the cold is just a minor annoyance. Last winter, the real cold was only 2 weeks long.

It doesn't really snow in Minneapolis anymore, outside of like 2 or 3 weeks. Thanks global warming. It does get cold but you can also afford rent.

I went from Dallas to the Twin Cities. The difference is about as stark as you can get, maybe excepting small town Texas/Florida. This metro is so queer and I've found so many people since moving here. My friend circle I was tiny, now it is bigger than it's ever been in my entire life.

Flathead is great don't get me wrong. But it's at the bottom of a valley. It's not the same as a lake or river halfway up a mountain where the only sound is the rushing of water and the songs of wildlife around you.

Since I grew up there I ended up taking it for granted. But being raised there imprints the mountains and lakes and the rivers on your soul. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't longingly ache for the picturesque mountains and crystal clear water.

Those mountains and lakes make the entire thing worth it tbh.

I'm pessimistic about this country. Obviously. This event revealed to me just how bad the Overton window has shifted in the last year. It is shockingly far, and my estimations were already bad. I don't see this resolving without massive violence.
