After some time away, I’m officially reactivating my presence here, with a rebrand and some exciting news. Artdeck is now Artdeck Games🎮

Why? Well, I’ve been quietly building my own game in the background.

I'm obsessed with Epic the Musical and I wish more people around me shared this obsession 😂

I'm going to be insufferable when this eventually is translated to a full 2D animated movie (I'm manifesting here).

But for now, the amazing fan animatics will do😇

So I have been a bit awol lately and that has a good reason.

Seeing Brighan make Beyond Good and Evil art is a dream come true 😭😭❤️❤️

Part of me wishes we could scale things back again in the game industry. Smaller games, tighter scopes, more experimentation.

Most gamers wants, or expect, prettier games, more content and bigger worlds—and yeah, that comes at a cost.

Everyone's reaction makes total sense, it is a tough pill to swallow. But even with these reactions (and a small backlash), people will buy the console and games..

And they know that.

And yet, prices stayed mostly the same for a long, long time. So now that Nintendo made the jump, others will follow. That’s just how this is going to work..

But… it was also kind of inevitable.
Game development has changed massively over the past 20 years. Budgets are bigger. Teams are huge. Timelines now stretch 5–7 years instead of the old 1–2.

I think two things can be true at once:
€89,99 for a physical game is wildly expensive. For a lot of people, that’s just not affordable, especially knowing Nintendo rarely drops prices significantly, even years later.

I'm honestly so excited for the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal tomorrow.

The Nintendo Switch has been my favorite console/handheld, as it offered such a unique experience. The fact Breath of Wild, let alone Tears of the Kingdom was made on THAT hardware was truly some SORCERY.

Really excited.

I am absolutely in love with Naoe and how insanely beautiful this game is. This game has captured me, for the first time since Odyssey and I can't wait to play more.

They truly cooked with this one.

But anyway.

It’s frustrating when you hear this stuff, especially in real life and you don’t know how to phrase it so people understand you. Cause they rarely really listen.

But people are awful and the last few years I’ve seen it noticeably get worse, let alone in countries where people in my community STILL don’t have rights.

But sure, you as a straight guy know exactly whats going on.

I am vocal for a fucking reason. Maybe try and speak up for us.

Oke sure Jan.
It’s 2025 and I still don’t feel comfortable walking hand in hand with my partner because people are vile. And I live in the freaking Netherlands, I have rights here.

For what its worth, he looks so incredibly sweet and happy❤️ You can instantly see that this little fluff is cared for and lovef.

No doubt in my mind, y’all have amazing people on the team and you are cooking!

Really sorry to hear about the layoffs, just sucks to see skilled and amazing people lose their jobs and livelihoods..

To you and the rest of the BGE2 devs, excited to see what you all are cooking. And know the BGE community is rooting for you all, however long it takes.

It will be worth it❤️

Another wave of layoffs has hit our industry, and, predictably, gamers™ and grifters are framing it as a victory over the 'woke-DEI agenda.'

If you can’t even empathize with the lives these layoffs ruin, I don’t know what to say—except that life has a way of reflecting that energy back.

Yeah but I got more games to cross off my list 😂

I haven't been active on social media lately, because it's so exhausting to see the state of our world nowadays.

I feel... defeated. Like common sense and empathy have been completely lost? Everything seems to be on fire, with no light at the end of the tunnel.

It's rough..
