The “4K” setting in the S50 is actually upscaling or drizzle. I like the results…more fine detail. The M31 shot is a mosaic of 9 panels, so it is technically a 10 minute exposure. I’m still in alt/az mode, so when I can go equatorial it’ll be even better and faster.

This image if the California Nebula is the largest mosaic I’ve attempted, taking around 7 hours of exposure. It lies in the constellation Perseus, about 1,000 light years from Landers, CA.

M1, the Crab Nebula in Taurus. This supernova remnant is about 6,500 light years away. Taken with a SeeStar S50, 23 10 second exposures stacked in the SeeStar and processed there and in the iPhone photos app.

M81 and M82, last night in Landers, CA. Both are about 12 million light years from Earth.

First attempt at a mosaic, the Flaming Star Nebula IC 405, 1,500 light years away. Probably not the best move taking a mosaic of a faint object as you end up with 1/9 of the exposure time. Whatever, I was asleep most of the time anyway! There’s a bit of light pollution in the lower left.

The Double Cluster in Perseus, NGC 869 and 884, 7,500 light years away from Montebello, CA.
