During WW1 there was a rumour that aspirin caused the Spanish Flu. As I was writing about that last year I often shook my head in disbelief at the stupidity of our near ancestors. Seems a lot of people are still dumb enough to believe nonsense.

Farage wanting to kick people out of the country because they migrated here made me angry and made me think about which best of British people and things wouldn't have happened were it not for the brilliance of immigration to the UK.

Corporations holding Govts to ransom.

CEO of Eli Lilly, $114m pay packet last year, says the UK is โ€œprobably the worst country in Europeโ€ for drug prices.

Big Pharma cartel wants the NHS to pay more for drugs, make bigger profits.

Govt must manufacture generic drugs, end profiteering.

Political cartoon showing Donald Trump sitting with mouth open, saying โ€œIโ€™M ALLOWED TO GIVE HER A PARDON.โ€ Above him, in a thought bubble, is Ghislaine Maxwellโ€”his imagined version of her. Her lips are stamped with the word โ€œPARDONโ€ in bold block letters, functioning as both a gag and a symbolic label. Her earrings resemble stylized vulvas, reinforcing themes of sexual exploitation and complicity. The cartoon satirizes Trumpโ€™s fantasy of control, suggesting he envisions pardoning Maxwellโ€”who was convicted for trafficking underage girls for Jeffrey Epsteinโ€”as a way to obscure his involvement in the Epstein files. Cartoon signed โ€œAnnTelnaes,โ€ dated 7/28/2025.

The time to cleanse the BBC (modern Augean Stables) is so long overdue - all the Johnsonian/Tory matey appointees must be crowbarred out of their offices and replaced by a selection of reasonable minded human beings. Cast open the windows, let in the light and fresh air.

The BBC silenced Remainer voices for over 2 years after the Brexit referendum, even though around 50% of voters opposed Brexit. It barely mentioned our London marches.

The BBC has been the politically corrupt tool of the rabid right for around a decade.

Starmer must act to defend democracy.

Reform's plan for a benefit clampdown
Sir, Regarding Reform's plan to ban foreigners from claiming benefits ("Farage visas would make it harder to settle in the UK", news, Sep 22;
"Time's Up", leading article, Sep 23), in my small company for the past ten years we have employed, on a yearly average, 32 eastern European people, two of them in senior management positions. They all pay British taxes and have had little or no unexplained absences to date. Sick leave for them is extremely low. As far as I am aware, none of them is claiming benefits for dependants. These diligent people provide compassionate care for their clients, living with them for a few weeks at a time. During the pandemic they were responsible for ensuring zero transmission of the virus to people in their care. I feel utterly ashamed that many of them will be reading about Nigel Farage's plan on their various social media platforms

Our politics and media have become viciously obsessed with immigration. Farage has made sure of it. And in that obsession, theyโ€™ve all lost sight of the people they target. Fellow human beings trying to live and belong somewhere.
Shame on everyone responsible for this daily inhumanity

Farage refuses to criticise Trump over paracetamol despite health experts dismissing autism claims Reform UK leader says he has โ€˜no ideaโ€™ if US president is right to tell women to avoid drug during pregnancy * UK politics live โ€“ latest updates Nigel Farage has refused to criticise Donald Trumpโ€™s claims that paracetamol, sold in the US as Tylenol, could cause autism, insisting โ€œscience is never settledโ€ and he would never โ€œside withโ€ medical experts. The Reform UK leader said he had โ€œno ideaโ€ if the US president was right to tell pregnant women to avoid taking acetaminophen, also known as Tylenol and paracetamol, and suggesting that those who could not โ€œtough it outโ€ should limit their intake. Ed Davey must be the main opposition to Reform in the media. If, over the next six months, he's the media's go-to person for a response to whatever idiocy Farage is suggesting, and he's also talking about positive Lib Dem proposals, his position is safe. If not, he may face a leadership challenge.

Farage's comments are stupid because they ignore decades of scientific studies disproving any link between paracetamol and autism, and falsely compare a well-studied medicine to the thalidomide disasterโ€”spreading needless fear and conspiracy nonsense. Typical of the man.
