Blue Prince is my game of the year 2025. The way it's designed with layers upon layers upon layers is mind blowing. Puzzles, strategy and narrative finely intertwined.

The Drifter is my 3rd best game of 2025. This is an excellent, fast paced, very Aussie adventure game that doesn't resort to cheap tricks to keep up that pace.

Expelled! is my 6th best game of 2025. @inkle.co rarely disappoints, and this is the ultimate choose your own adventure. Excellent writing and fun characters.

Kathy Rain 2: Soothsayer is my 7th best game of 2025. Highly recommend this sequel. Some great puzzles and amazing graphics and voice acting.

Cabernet is my 14th best game of 2025. I feared this was going to be a visual novel for teenagers, but instead it's a well written and at times dark RPG. Give an award to the actress of Liza!

What happens if you mix Obra Dinn, Golden Idol and The Last Express? Then you get The Séance of Blake Manor from @spookydoorway.bsky.social. I had some expectations since they made Darkside Detective, but wow, this is a really excellent game! Highly recommended for all aspiring detectives out there!

Keeper by @doublefine.com is absolutely gorgeous. The artistic direction and attention to detail is superb. I just wish the gameplay was given the same amount of love. The parts that are here are so simplistic. This game deserves more, and I expected more from a creative company like Double Fine.

We have two major stories on Spillhistorie.no today, both available in English. The first is about SVHA Adventure, a unique version of Colossal Cave developed on a Norsk Data minicomputer in Norway in 1979. Lost and completely unknown until this year. We have the story & a playable version.

Another beautiful adventure game that originally never came out in English. The French game Black Sect is a 1993 remake of an 1990 Amstrad CPC game.
The remake came out for Amiga, Atari ST and DOS, and they all look great. Since then the game has had an English fan translation and a remake in AGS.
In the 00s, I played a lot of adventure games in German, because they were "all" from Germany at the time, and the English voice acting was usually awful.
I wonder, though, if there are any interesting adventure games from the 90s that were only in German.

Nobody has managed to capture the feeling of melancholy in computer games the way that Benoît Sokal did. I love all the "unnecessary" attention to detail Microids always puts in their games too. Adds so much flavour. Great remake!

It has been a really good year for adventure games. Several of them look absolutely gorgeous as well. But I think the best looking game must be Kathy Rain 2: Soothsayer. The world is so full of life. Very good game too!

Blue Prince. Will be very surprised if this isn't GOTY. I was worried the progression would be a bit random because of the room drafting, but it felt natural all the way to the "end". One of the best designed games of all time.

Agree about the exploration. What happened in the writing department though? I have never seen such uninteresting companions in an Obsidian game before, and the writing is generally lazy. Not much C&C to speak of either. Feels like a Bethesda game, which I guess is what they were going for, but why?
