I had "someone" send me a 250th postcard distributed at the SAA meeting--any chance those will be available? Would love to use them in my advocacy with my local and state legislators.

Such a relief to listen to @nicollewallace.bsky.social and not hear her annoyingly repetitive " we'll sneak in a break" phrase....aargh it was soooo irritating to hear over and over and over like an insecure junior high student. Now maybe I can watch again.

Check out Steven Charleston's Ladder to the Light. He is an indigenous elder and Episcopal pastor whose words I've found comforting during this time. He's also on Facebook

Someone posted the question "what institution do you still trust?". The only answer I have is "the public library ". Eliminating or truncating IMLS will do immense harm to the last good institution in this country.

Young Frankenstein is one of my all-time favorite movies--I wore out the videotape version as well as a DVD. What a great reminder of Gene Hackman!

So Blacks were good enough to enlist when they needed people to die in the jungles in Viet Nam....

Amid all the stress, almost inconceivable horrors going on, I am reminded of Ma Joad's observation in The Grapes of Wrath: "We are the people. We go on". And we do, and I hold to the hope we will.

As the daughter of a decorated veteran who took shrapnel at the battle of Okinawa, I was prohibited today from visiting his grave in Arlington Cemetery. Instead a draft dodger w/ bonespurs who called my father/ his comrades "losers and suckers" was there faking inaugural respect.

Storytelling? To what genre do they aspire: fantasy; horror; science fiction; bodice rippers; kiddie lit?

While the sentence was inadequate, I am proud to live in NY where the State Court system upheld justice

Pictures? We had lovely red carts at the NY State Archives, and they were a wonderful item of office decor.

Literally, this "looks" good and I will check it out. I'm struggling right now and need some really engaging things to read to keep myself from overthinking for the next year--or four.

Just started reading Perceval Everett's book, James. On only a few chapters I'm very taken with both his elegant writing and perspective presented in the voice of "Jim" from the Twain classic Huckleberry Finn. A good way to occupy my jumpy mind.

Given a "prescription" from my cardiologist to limit my consumption of news to one hour daily, and try to find more balanced reporting...he suggested radio and NPR. Any suggestions?
