It's important for the public to know that the WPD will arrest political opponents to ensure people stop questioning their past misdeeds.

It's important for the public to know that the WPD can do whatever they want and face no repercussions.

We will protest in the streets. We will riot at city hall. They will have to host 30 city council meetings via Zoom in a row to try and silence us.

These bastards are coming for Etel’s seat, and we will fight back harder than they think possible.

But, just like they underestimate her, they also underestimate the lengths we will go to protect her. She has stuck her neck out countless times for her community and precisely because of that, we will do the same for her.

The fact is that the cowards of the WPD and city “leadership” are terrified of Etel. They are terrified of her courage, her moral conviction, the passion of her supporters, and of what she represents as the leader of a potential progressive movement in this city.

Our community continues to be shocked and devastated by the events on Eureka Street as our country staggers from political upheaval. It is frustrating to now be targeted by this criminal prosecution as well. I am a mother, an immigrant and elected leader who attempted, along with other Worcester residents, to protect a traumatized young person, two mothers and an infant. I did the humane thing to do in this situation, nothing more, nothing less. My life's calling has been to help others. I am a former refugee who fled and escaped violence. I, like too many others in our city, have previously lived through the nightly terrors of whisper campaigns, street round-ups and disappeared neighbors, which I experienced when I lived in Albania and Greece. It is frightening that the same type of conduct is now a reality in this country. Protecting the most vulnerable should not lead to being targeted and vilified. And working to improve policing in our city by calling for oversight and accountability should not provoke political grandstanding and attacks. I look forward to responding to these charges in court.

We the undersigned residents of the City of Worcester, in light of the city’s proposed new security theater limiting access by members of the public to our building, Worcester City Hall, request the Worcester City Council: • Receive a report of the findings of the security audit that was conducted prior to this plan, including by whom the audit was conducted, dates of review, with whom those auditing spoke, and the relevant findings of the audit; • Outline the specific costs associated with the new security measures, including specifications of staffing, parking, machinery, and maintenance; • Identify the revenue source(s) from which this new cost will be drawn; • Clarify if identification will be required to access this public building; if so, specify which forms of identification will be required; • Outline how members of the public will access the building if they lack required forms of identification; • Make provision for members of the public who are disabled or elderly to access the building while avoiding Worcester’s sometimes extreme weather; • Provide a written legal opinion from the Office of the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the office overseeing the Open Meeting Law, as to if and how requiring identification from those wishing to attend a public meeting adheres to MGL Ch. 30A; • Provide a written legal opinion from the Office of the Secretary of State of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the office overseeing voting, as to if and how requiring identification from those wishing to vote at the Election Commission adheres to MGL Ch. 54; • Provide access to voting and voting registration; filing papers to run for local office; birth certificates; marriage licenses; dog licenses; payment of taxes; in a location that does not require such identification and screening.
