Bloor is one of the few streets I would actually prioritize clearing, there are enough winter cyclists (see pic 3) here to warrant it

05.02.2026 22:08 โ ๐ 45 ๐ 6 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 1From the TTC Chair Dear TTC riders, Any time we expand transit in this city, it matters. People have waited a long time for Line 5, and I know there's real excitement - and real expectations - around this opening. After the Line 6 launch, I successfully passed a motion to strengthen transit signal priority because speed and reliability are what riders care about most. Those lessons are shaping how we're opening Line 5, improving Line 6 and our streetcars. Line 5 is faster by design. Nearly two-thirds of the line runs underground, which means fewer delays from traffic and signals and more consistent travel times. Opening in phases lets us do this the right way - apply what we've learned, watch how the system performs in real-world conditions, and make adjustments before full service. My focus as Chair is simple: start strong, keep improving, and deliver a line riders can rely on every day. As service builds, we'll keep sharing updates on performance, speed, and reliability - because riders deserve clear information and a system that keeps getting better. 7.4 Jamaal Myers TTC Board Chair Ward 23 Councillor FINCH Y Jamaal Myers - Ward 23 Councillor & TTC Board Chair JamaalMyers.com Councillor_Myers@toronto.ca
