This is creeping dread,
haunting fear.
Itβs the knock on your door
during a roundup
of those deemed different.
History howls its brutal lessons
through the centuries.
Weβre not listening again.

April 2025 books Shaedes of Power Ravager Blood Orange Feminism is for Everybody The art of Small Talk
April was super busy IRL and I didnβt read as much as I hoped. Blood Orange as a re-read, this time in audio, was so good.
Got in some good non-fiction too!

Sen. Bookerβs speech was a substantive and moral account of this moment. He did not read the phone book. He did not babble.
For 24 hours @booker.senate.gov laid out a detailed, damning, and critical narrative of truth, history, politics, morality, humanity.
What will you do?
Yesssss!!! So good.

This is fun and relevant with just the right amount of escapism.

I spent my whole life listening to cis straight men talk about their dicks. It's about time they get jump scared by women talking about smutty romantasy books in crude detail on TikTok.

Cozy fantasy can sometimes be hard for me to get into but this book engaged me from the start. It was funny and light while still finding meaning and moving the story. I really liked this one.

This is where we are now: An elementary school at Fort Campbell has removed all books from its library that so much as *allude* to slavery or the civil rights movement.
The wholesale erasure of history in real time.
My grandmotherβs family was murdered in the chambers of Auschwitz. She survived and told me never let it get that far. Make them shoot you in public before they murder you in hiding. Stand up for others. Never cave in fear of the Nazis or the holocaust will happen again.
